*Sigh* Today is the determining factor for the rest of my life. If things go horribly wrong, I don't think I'll be able to afford a new start. THIS is my life now... Please God, let this new school be kind! I don't care if I get bullied, just let me make at least ONE friend. School bag at hand, I bravely ventured out the door and headed to my new school. Lucky for me the walk isn't that far, however, I wasn't able to see Max today when I walked past the ice cream shop. Seeing his smile would have been encouragement enough to get me through the day... "Hey! Don't tell me you were leaving without moi!" Luhan yelled as he sprinted over to me. "Of course I was! You can't come to school with me!" I snapped as I whipped around to face him. "Nonsense, of course I can. It's not like anyone can see me anyways" he shrugged, looking at me like I was stupid for not remembering that little fact. "I don't care about your visibility, I just don't trust you not to pull anything. I want today to go by as smoothly as possible, which won't happen if your around." "I have no idea what you're talking about" Luhan stated, waving his hand in dismissal of my comment. Rolling my eyes in exasperation, I continued my walk to school. I really need to hurry or else I'll be late, which isn't good on the first day. "Just go home Luhan, I'll see you later" I called over my shoulder to the pouting boy.

Breathing heavily, I finally stood in front of my new school. Sucking in a much needed breath, I shook my head in determination and marched into the building. The minute I walked into the halls, I was being swept a way by a sea of students. "Wai- Nooo!!!" I screeched as the crowd dragged me down the hall in the opposite direction of the main office. Struggling, I tried to force my way against the crowd, but it was too strong. Quickly, my desired destination was receding from view. If I get dragged any farther off course, I'll never find my way back! Just when I thought all hope was lost and was about to give myself to the current, I felt a hand latch onto mine. The hand grabbed hold of me tightly, pulling me to safety. "Whew, that was a close one! I thought you were a goner for a second!" a girl stated, from my side. "I thought so too" I laughed in relief as I turned to face her, "thanks a lot!" "No problem!" she said, smiling up at me. Wow, she's short!! I've never been looked up to before, other than when I was surrounded by little kids. This is psyching me out! "Hi I'm MinHyo, but you can call me Min! You must be the new student" she stated happily, holding out a hand. Grabbing her hand, I shook it excitedly "Yeah, I'm Haerin! It's nice to meet you. And thanks again, you saved my life back there!" "Haha, you don't have to thank me. I remember being swept away my first year here... It was a horrible experience and I don't wish it upon anyone. The more students I save, the more accomplished in life I feel." Nodding in understanding, I looked out thoughtfully at the stampede of students. Gah! I can't believe someone's actually talking to me!! Maybe I'll actually be able to make a friend today. She's the only one who seems... approachable. Everyone else is quickly moving with the crowd, loudly talking with their friends and ignoring anyone on the outside. Eventually the hall cleared out, making it safe to finally walk down to the main office. "Well, I suppose this is my call to leave. Gotta go check in before officially starting classes" I stated, trying to sound as friendly as possible, so I don't scare Min away. "Why don't I go with you? Once everything has been all set up for you, I can show you where your classes are!" "Really? That would be so helpful!!" "Yes, that's VERY helpful of you" someone stated sarcastically from behind us. Oh please don't be who I think you are!!! Slowly turning towards the voice, I was horrified to find myself looking at Luhan, standing cheerfully beside me IN SCHOOL. "What are you doing here? I told you to stay at home!" I hissed under my breath, trying desperately to not look crazy in front of my 'possible friend' candidate. "Didn't want to, nothing to do at home" he answered simply, waving off my annoyance as if it was unjustified. It's perfectly alright for me to be angry at him!!! The last time I was in a public place, he threw ice cream at someone. I am not having a repeat of that here in school, where I'll NEVER live down the humiliation afterwards. Any type of mess up created during student life, will be gossiped about FOREVER. "Hey, are you going to introduce me to your friend?" Min asked suddenly, throwing me into a state of confusion. "What friend?" "Why that one of course, silly" she giggled, pointing a finger straight towards Luhan. "You can see him?!?!" I yelped excitedly. "Well duh" Min stated, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "why wouldn't I? Last I recall, I'm not blind and he's definitely real." Pft, if Luhan is real then I'm the President of the United States. Hmm, I wonder if it would be safe to intrust this secret with her. I mean, she can see him so if I don't tell her, she'll end up looking like a psycho talking to air. But at the same time, she could think I'm crazy! I don't want to go back to being the weird loser I school!! *Sigh* But I have to do the right thing. I can't leave Min in the dark about this whole situation. "Come with me" I murmured, glancing around to make sure no one was paying attention to us. Quickly, I dragged her to the janitor's closet and ushered her inside. Once we were both tucked in a corner away from earshot, I began my tale of doom. I started with my previous school life and ended with this morning. The whole time I told my story, she listened attentively, never once interrupting me. After it was all told, she stood staring at me thoughtfully. "Ha! I KNEW ghosts were real!!" she suddenly shouted, causing me to jump back in shock. "Excuse me? How dare you insult me in such a way! I am NOT a ghost!!!" Luhan hollered angrily, stalking menacingly towards Min. "I am a BEING from ANOTHER WORLD!! Not some petty, barely there, pathetic excuse for a paranormal phenomenon!" As he ranted, Luhan waved his finger around in front of Min's face, as if it would drive his point home. "Okay okay, sorry if I offended you" she sighed, not sounding very sincere. I wouldn't blame her, most of the time I just see him as a figment of my imagination. Apparently my mind hates me... "Well, whatever Luhan may be, he still needs to be kept a secret. No one besides us can know about him. Can I trust you?" I waited anxiously for an answer, praying that it'll be in my favor. I really need an ally right about now to keep me sane, and she seems like the perfect candidate. "Of course you can trust me, friend" she stated while playfully nudging my shoulder. Putting a hand over the spot she nudged, I smiled happily at Min. Friend *sigh* such a nice word...
