You’re back at your apartment choking your guts out as you hover over the toilet. Rocky runs in with a ponytail in his hand. He pulls your hair back and wraps the ponytail around it. He pats your back as you start to cry… then heave… then again… and again… and again. It comes to the point where you’re just dry heaving… nothing is coming up. You gasp for air and you reach for a hand towel. As you’re wiping your mouth, Rocky asks you, “Do you need me to get you some water sweetie?”

In a hoarse voice, you respond, “Yes… that would be helpful.”

Rocky leaves the bathroom and returns with a bottle of water.

“Thanks baby.” You say as he kisses you on the cheek.

“You’re welcome.” He says.

You brush your teeth, then walk out of the bathroom and lay down on the couch.

Rocky sits in front of you and puts his hand on your waist.

“Do you want me to get you some crackers… or something pregnant women eat during morning sickness…?” Rocky asks.

“I’m not hungry at all.” You say. “But thank you for being willing.” You start to close your eyes.

Rocky gets on his knees and faces you. “Anything for you babe.”

He watches as you struggle to keep your eyes open. “Why don’t you just go to sleep?” He suggests.

“Because I just woke up. I don’t want to sleep all day long!” You say.

“It’ll be okay. I’ll be okay. Just sleep. And it will take your mind off of being sick.”

“Okay babe.” You say as you close your eyes.

Rocky pulls the bottom of your shirt up over the top of your belly. There’s a little baby bump – as to which he smiles. He puts the side of his head up to it and just sits there.

“This is real.” Rocky thinks. “I’m going to be a daddy.”

He starts to rub your stomach area as he lifts his head. Then, he lays down on the floor and stares at the ceiling until his stomach tells him to get up and EAT SOMETHING.

He gets up to make his breakfast – Reese’s Puffs, then takes his bowl into the living room to sit by you as he eats.

An hour passes and you wake up.

“Aw, good morning sunshine.” Rocky says as you open your eyes. “Do you feel any better?”
“Yeah I do.” You answer. “I feel a little less nauseas, so that’s good.”

“That must be awful.” Rocky says. “I’m sorry I did this to you.”

“It’ll all be worth it in 7 months.” You say as you kiss his lips.

He latches on for a moment, then lets go and says, “I know it will… but I’m sorry that you even feel this way. It totally looks like it sucks.”

“It really does… but I’m glad it’s only in the mornings.” You say.

“And 3 O’clock in the mornings” Rocky adds.

“Tell me about it!” You laugh.

“Well… are you ready to eat?” Rocky asks.

“No, I’m still not hungry. But I should go get dressed. We have that… uh… thing in an hour.” You say forgetting what it was called.

“Yeah.. that thing.” Rocky says “What is that thing called again….? Uh… we-d a wed-ding rehearsal… and dinner?” trying to get you to remember.
