Whimpers left my lips as I jolted awake from deep slumber and sat up in my bed, breathing heavy. A horrible nightmare haunted my dreams almost every night since I came to Neverland, but none were so horrifying as this one, which was about my parents being swallowed hole by Pan's Shadow in the most painful and terrifying way.
My hand moved in the darkness, trying to find the glass of water that was supposed to stand on my nightstand, but it wasn't there. I allowed my eyes to adjust to the darkness only to find out that I wasn't in the cabin back at Peter's camp, but in my room on the Jolly Roger."Was the battle against the pirates all a dream? I thought I had made it back to Peter's camp." I whispered my thoughts aloud.
I flinched when a loud thud was heard from the other side of my door, accompanied by loud but muffled screams. Was it smart to go explore and find out where they came from? Probably not. But curiosity got the best of me. My feet hit the cold, wooden floor as I slowly slipped out of my bed and tip toed towards the door of my room. The creaks from the old floorboards seemed to scream at me as I stood on them, warning me that perhaps it would be better if I went back to sleep. The sound of my breath was the only thing I could hear when I came to a stop in front of my door. I then slowly pressed my ear against it, my hands following soon after so that I could steady myself. More silence.
And then anoter muffled scream which made me jump away from the door, heart beating frantically. I swallowed hard and reached out a sweaty hand to hold onto the cold, metal doorknob. It only took a slight twist for it to open. Instead of a hallway, though, I was met by a wet deck that was being rained on as the Jolly Roger floated through a storm and creaked its old wood in distress. My heartrate picked up again and instead of closing the door to shield myself from the ice cold droplets that sharply landed on my skin, I exited my cabin and walked onto the deck. There was no pirate in sight, yet there was a nagging feeling that made me feel too uneasy to go back to bed.
Another muffled scream echoed through the wind which came from behind me and I quickly spun around to find the source it came from. Once my brain had processed the sight in front of me, my eyes widened in shock."Dad!" I yelled, my voice loud but not loud enough as the wind carried it off the ship.
Before me stood a bunch of pirates with Hook leading the pack. He stood at the front, gripping tightly onto the man who I recognised as my father. Beside them stood another pirate who likewise held onto my mother. Hook's hand covered my father's mouth and his hook was heaved up in the air.
"Ah! You're right on time my dear!" Hook's voice yelled over the storm that was whipping around us frantically.
"You see, you can't live here with us when you have parents that will keep you from immersing yourself in this new life! That is why I'll take care of them for you, Pan's orders!" He added and my eyes widened even more as he brought down his hook, sinking it into my dad's chest.
"No! Dad!" I screamed, running towards them, but the strong winds pulled on my nightgown to keep me from moving forwards.
"I-I love you!" My father breathed out before Hook let go off him and let his body fall limp onto the deck.
Another blood curdling scream rolled out of me as I made my way up the stairs to the starboard where all the pirates stood around the helm. Before I could reach my mother, however, Hook had managed to do the same thing to her. Her body rolled over the deck, coming to a halt next to my father's body. She reached out her hand to me which I grabbed as I fell to my knees beside her.
"Mommy, no, please stay with me! Talk to me!" I begged, pushing my hands on her wound to keep blood from oozing out.
"What a tragedy." I heard another, younger voice speak up.
