"Joseph, Brandon, are you ready to present a small amount of your story, or a summary?"

Brandon and Joseph walked up to the front of the class, and Joseph started reading the story to the class. The two swapped back and forth through every paragraph, taking turns reading it aloud. Throughout working with Joseph, Brandon had become stronger and hoped he would be able to work with Joseph again.

Clapping erupted from the class, and even the teacher, who wasn't very happy with most of the class' work, smiled and clapped too.

Joseph put his hand up and high-fived the smiling boy standing next to him.

They went to go sit down, and the teacher said, "Now that's a story right there." The two were happy and received an A after that day. They both loved creative writing, and the teacher could tell they worked together well. So for the next group project which included writing five poems together, Brandon and Joseph were paired together once more.

But during work time, they hit a disagreement.

"Wouldn't it be cool if we kept the same theme as our story?" Brandon asked, already starting a poem that consisted with the theme of the story.

"I think we should do something new, something awesome! I feel like we have gotten as much as we can out of the story we wrote, I just don't think others will like it."

"Who cares?"

"Everyone will!

"Like who."

"First off, I want to get a good grade, and second, a bunch of my friends is in there, and I don't want them thinking I'm boring or don't have enough ideas."

Brandon nodded and realized he just made his sempai unhappy. "Wanna sit with me at lunch?" Brandon's face lit up as he said "Sure!" He said it calm, not to want to freak Joseph out that he was waiting for this moment my entire life.

"Over here!" Joseph called to the boy standing in the middle of the lunchroom, sporting a neon sweatshirt.

He patted a seat next to him, and Brandon sat down, placing his tray on the table. "Ey, man, why is he sittin' here?" Lorin, one of Joseph's friends asked.

"It's fine," Joseph said, waving his arm to brush the question away. "We're just hanging out and thinking of a new story to write." Brandon felt special because someone had stood up for him, which made him smile.
