Joseph walked into the band room, carrying the large golden trombone that was his. He had switched band classes, wanting to be able to have a challenge for his music abilities. His face lit up when he noticed the boy in the back of the room. There was a strap around Brandon's neck, holding what looked to be to Joseph a bass clarinet. Those were hard to acquire, and not many got to play the low instruments.
The clarinet looked new and produced a marvelous sound when he played it.
The band director walked over to Joseph and started to converse with him.
"Hi! You ready to play some challenging music?" He asked, and Joseph smiled wide nodding his head. "There's an extra spot next to the bass clarinet," Pointing to Brandon, the director grinned and walked into his office. Joseph sat down in the chair next to Brandon and the bass clarinet player jumped, his instrument almost falling to the ground if it weren't for the black velcro fastened around his neck.
"When did you get here? I thought you were in the other band?"
"Not anymore. I'm a part of this one now." Joseph looked up into the distance, arms on his hips feeling proud that he would be sitting next to Brandon for the year.
They played some difficult songs that both of the boys were surprised they could play. Everyone accepted Joseph into the band and acted like he was one of their own.
