Six years later
"Lydia, wake the hell up." A voice commanded."Leave me alone, Mac." she groaned back, rolling over in bed and shoving a pillow over her head.
"Lydia, we have a English mock today and I need help because I didn't study so you need. To get. Out of bed."
With a sigh, Lydia sat up, rubbing at her eyes, and cursed her best friend for waking her up at this god forsaken hour. "Why the hell did you wake me up so early?" she demanded, annoyed.
"It's 6 o'clock in the morning, Lyd, it's not exactly early." Mac said, rolling his eyes.
The blonde girl gasped. "Easy for you to say! Six in the bloody morning, blooming hell, do you want me dead?"
Mac shrugged, muttering something under his breath about how best friends always helped each other, no matter the hour, and glared at me with his deep brown eyes from under his dark fringe. Honestly, his expectations of me were way too high.
"You, sir," She hissed, poking at his chest with my finger, "Are cruising for a bruising."
He burst out into laughter at my use of the phrase, practically cacking himself, before he realised that, one, his best friend was being serious and would happily punch the crap out of him, and two, the rest of her family was still asleep, meaning that if he woke someone else up, he's probably get kicked out, rather aggressively, by her brother Jake. If there was one thing in life that Jakob Nikolai Taylor appreciated, it was his beauty sleep.
"How did you even get in here?" Lydia asked, genuinely curious. She was certain that the front door was locked.
"The window was open." He replied, pointing.
The girl sighed, then motioned to her desk expectantly. If he wanted tutoring, tutoring he would get, and as a punishment for waking her up so early, she had no intentions to show him mercy. "Sit down then. Now that I'm awake, I'm going to teach the shit out of you. And if you fail the test, I will personally rip out your-"
"Okay, okay, just get on with it!" he complained, probably in no mood to hear about the potential cruel dismemberment of his genitals.

As Mac and Lydia walked out of first period, English, their other best friend AJ ran up to them. "Hi guys!" she exclaimed cheerfully, her crazy black curls bouncing behind her as she waved as if she was hoping her hand would fall off."What's up, AJ?" Mac greeted, grinning.
"Not much, History was pretty boring except for this guy, I think his name is Blake, stood up and called Miss Hewitt a biased, Jesus-freak islamophobe. She was yelling at Sana about how Christianity is the superior religion and better than Muslims and I guess he just kind of lost it. He got sent to the principal's office, though, and not much happened after that." she paused, before continuing, "Why do you look so happy?"
Mac looked more than happy, he looked overjoyed. "Because Lydia helped me study for our English mock and I'm pretty sure I just bloody aced it. Lyd is amazing." he explained, and with a sudden movement, he wrapped the blonde in a hug, lifting her off the ground and spinning around. AJ frowned as she watched them, slightly upset.
The smile looked so out of place on his usually stormy face, and Lydia knew that it wasn't just because of the stupid test. He definitely hadn't been this happy seconds ago, meaning it had something to do with... AJ?
She mentally facepalmed. How had she not seen it before? She was such a terrible friend, obviously they were-
She was so lost in her thoughts that she wasn't watching where she was walking, and the next thing she knew, she slammed into what many described as a warm mass of muscle and sheer attractiveness. This was not a description she agreed with in any way, but who could blame her? It was her brother, after all.
"Watch it, dipshit." Jake growled.
"You watch it, Kobweb," she spat back, referring to the nickname she had come up with years ago, referring to the last three letters of his name as well as his airheaded nature when he was younger. They used to get in trouble all the time because he was so ditzy, he sometimes did things like get on the wrong train at the station, or grab a stranger by the hand instead of his mum.
Jake rolled his eyes. "Just get out of the way, Lydia." he snarled, shoving her backwards into Mac before continuing on his way, trailed by his posse of sixth formers.
The perks of being smart, hot and good at sports.
"Your brother is actually the worst. What the hell is his problem?" Mac hissed, eyes narrowed and fists clenched. It was almost a relief, seeing him going back to his usual facial expression of anger and annoyance.
Lydia just shrugged. "Whatever, I'm used to it." she muttered, before piping up, "Who's ready for double Maths?"

When Lydia finally got home, it was past 5 o'clock. After surviving 6 hours in hell- sorry, school- the trio decided they needed a mood lifter and went to see a film.
"Jake?" she called out, "I'm home!"
After searching through the house and not seeing her brother, she frowned, puzzled. Jakob was meant to be home ages ago. She pulled her phone out of her pocket to ring him, and her confusion mounted when she heard the loud melody of the Pokemon theme song burst out from somewhere behind her, because that was Jake's ringtone.
Before she could question it, a dark shadow leapt across the hallway towards her, eliciting a scream from the blue-eyed girl.
Suddenly, her attacker burst into laughter. "Oh my god, Lyd, you should've seen the look on your face. Priceless!" he howled, doubled over in fits of giggles.
"Wow, Jake, very mature. What the hell were you doing in the broom cupboard?"
Immediately, her brother sobered up. "Look," he said seriously, "I'm sorry about today, at school. I wasn't in a great mood, and I just-"
Lydia cut him off. "I get it, Jake. When you're popular, it gives you the right to shit on your sister. Whatever." she muttered, rolling her eyes as she turned away to go to her bedroom. She was stopped by a hand wrapping around her wrist.
"Don't be like that, Lyd. I can make it up to you." he insisted.
She turned around, raising an eyebrow. "You've got my attention. Go on." she prompted.
"Okay, well I was going to kick you out because I'm having a party tonight, but I've decided, you can stay." he said with a hopeful smile.
She sighed. "Ugh, fine, I forgive you. But you have to let Mac and AJ come."

Well, author's note time.
This story is an idea I've had for a while and I only just decided to post it. It's off to a more or less slow start but I promise it will pick up in the next chapter. This chapter is dedicated to nhclubsandwich because she's amazing.
I have a plot more or less worked out for this but I'm a terrible writer so if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to give them.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the first chapter 😊 thanks. Don't forget to comment, vote and share if you did.
