Hau smiled happily as he approached the malasada shop in Malie City. He was hungry for some malasadas, and it was going to be a pretty good treat for him considering he was going to be completing the electric Trial soon. The thought made his mouth water, but as he walked he couldn't help but feel a slight pang hit him. Before he had began walking to the shop he had ran into that creep Gladion and it hadn't been the best. His words still echoed in his mind and he couldn't help but wince.
"How do you expect to become stronger if you spend all your time eating malasadas instead of training. You hardly have a chance, you should stop before you get yourself hurt."
Hau shook his head to clear his thoughts, letting out a soft sigh. Gladion had to be wrong... he just had to be.
No... I'm not giving up... I can't let him get to me, he thought, focusing on the fact that the malasadas shop was drawing closer, I got a hot date with a malasada!
Before he could enter the shop, he heard someone call his name. He turned and gasped in slight surprise. Approaching him, at a pretty fast pace, was Faba from the Aether Paradise. He smiled happily and waved to him, walking towards him to meet him halfway.
"Hi again," he said cheerily, "What are you doing here? Oh, is it a Pokemon issue?"
Faba chuckled slightly and shook his head, an odd grin on his face.
"Ah no no, it's not a Pokemon issue," he said calmly, "May I talk to you in private?"
Hau nodded and followed him away from the crowded building, much to his dismay. He would've much rather had a malasada, but considering he had sought him out to talk personally, he had to give him a chance. Faba walked into Malie Gardens and Hau followed him as he walked to a more secluded section of the gardens.
"Ok," Faba said calmly, turning to Hau as soon as he reached their side, "Our president has an offer for you. A once-in-a-lifetime offer, mind you."
Hau cocked his head to the confusion. What could Lusamine want with him? His thoughts suddenly went back to that offer she had made earlier about taking him shopping and he shuddered slightly.
"A 'once in a lifetime' offer...?" he asked, "What kind of offer...?"
Faba grinned at him and put his hands on his hips.
"A chance for you to get stronger," he said calmly, "Our president would personally train you and help you become stronger."
Hau gasped and stared at him, his heart speeding up slightly. Being personally trained by Lusamine herself? She hadn't seemed like the 'trainer' type, but then again, she seemed like she was full of surprises. He wanted to agree right then and there, but he stopped himself. This situation did seem sort of shady. Wasn't Lusamine busy with Pokemon conservation?
"Um... She would, huh?" Hau asked, glancing at the ground in thought, "Why would she choose me and not Moon? She's way stronger than me, she should be the one being personally trained, not me."
He heard Faba shift, almost as if he had been caught off guard by his blunt statement. After a few seconds Faba let out a slight bark of laughter and shook his head.
"Ah, that's exactly why she chose you," he said, his voice sounding oddly too cheerful, "She sees the potential in you! Yes Moon is stronger, but that means there isn't much to teach her! She chose you because she sees the potential in you."
Hau blinked and put his hand on his chin in thought. He honestly felt flattered that Lusamine would think that about him, though the whole thing still felt sort of suspicious. How often did these things happen? Besides he still had his trial to do! He was about to politely decline the offer when Gladion's words rang in his head again. A sense of determination hit him and he stood up straighter. He would prove Gladion wrong.
"I'll go," Hau said firmly, turning to look at Faba again.
Faba smirked. "Wonderful," he said softly, "Well, let's go! The president doesn't like waiting."
Hau frowned, realizing he was going to miss his malasada date, but before he could mention it, Faba was already turning around and marching off. Hau blinked then followed after him, feeling that determined feeling stay with him as he did. He would become stronger and prove Gladion wrong. Hau smiled and held his head up slightly higher. He was going to do this.
