I scowled as I stared at Charlotte. Currently, she was curled up on the floor, her tail curled around her ankles as she slept.

It's almost as though she's trying to hide from me.

I let out a brief snort as I got to my feet.

Why does this room have to be so bright?

I glanced around as I walked over to Charlotte. A soft whimper reached my ears as the rune markings on her arm, neck, back, and leg glowed a gentle blue.

I knelt down next to her, a smirk on my face as I played with her horns and curved ears. "Oh Charlotte, now that I'm here there's no way you're getting rid of me." I let out a chuckle. "After all you're the one who summoned me, bringing me into this world."

I took a deep breath before I placed my hand on Charlotte's markings, the runes that connected us. I closed my eyes and concentrated, very soon a strange yet familiar warmth began to take over my body. My thoughts became muddled and unfocused.
I took another deep breath and suddenly everything snapped clearly in focus, seconds later I opened my eyes and looked down at my hands. Once I caught sight of the markings on the back of her left hand I grinned.

"It's becoming difficult to do, but I still managed to possess Charlotte and that's all that matters at the moment," I muttered as I looked down at my hands.

Whether it was because she no longer was naive enough to trust me or if she was unconsciously resisting me, I didn't know yet. I moved Charlotte's tail, wrapping it around her waist so I wouldn't trip over it like a fool.

I walked over to the jail cell door and placed my hand on the bars. Almost instantly one of the many human guards appeared, a disgruntled look covering his face.

"What do you want creature?" He spat.

I scowled, as I moved a bit closer to speak. "I'm hungry, do you know when my dinner will be arriving?"

The man rolled his eye and mumbled the words, "Fucking paranormals."

He let out a huff and adjusted his weapon in his arms instantly drawing my eye to it.

"You'll be fed soon, you zoo freak," he grumbled before turning and walking away.

Due to the lack of care provided by the prison staff, I was used to hearing derogatory terms from the guards. Hell, this place contained many of this world's most dangerous supernatural creatures but inside the prison, it was barely organized chaos. I continued to look around the outside of our cell.

I believe I can blast our way out.

I stepped away from the bars taking in a sharp hiss of air as a piercing pain rushed through my head and chest.

"Would you quit resisting my hold on you Charlotte, or it'll be painful for both of us," I hissed as some of myself slipped through.

I need to hurry up and escape now before she breaks my hold on her.

I walked back over to the door and placed my hand on the face of the door. I focused, my eyes narrowing as a black ball of energy swirled in my hand. The walls flickered as though they were made of faulty light bulbs. Large complicated runes appeared on the walls and door glowing bright red as my energy caused them to activate. I couldn't help but let out a snort.

They may have reinforced this place against demonic energy, but not energy as powerful as mine.

In an instant what appeared to be hundreds of shadows seemed to converge at one point on the door. There was a large thump, and then and even larger thud. Finally, the piercing sound of metal tearing reached my ears in one enormous screech. Seconds later, I stood in a dark room with a piece of crumpled metal at my feet and an alarm was blaring in my ears.

Once again, pain shot through my head and chest. Moments later my vision went fuzzy, then black as Charlotte forced me out. I was on the floor outside of the cell. Charlotte sat next to me, halfway conscious and panting as she rocked back and forth. She gripped her head and chest. An alarm blared full force as lights flashed. Runes appeared on the hallway walls and the doors of the other prisoners.

"Fucking hell," she groaned softly.

"You dumb little bitch! Why can't you just obey me for once?" I snapped viciously.

This wasn't the first time that she'd done something so dumb when I'm trying to save both of our ass. She shook her head then looked at me. "Stop possessing me so much, I could've escaped on my own. It's painful when you do that," she hissed.

Charlotte stumbled to her feet swaying in place for a moment. A frown covered my face as I watched her carefully.

Perhaps I may have overdone it. Her body was never really that good at using and containing my power.

"Come on, follow me so that we can leave this wretched place," I told her as I got to my feet and began walking.
