The nurses were right about having to stay three days. On the first night, Jake asked me if it was OK if he ran home to get us some clothes. The real question should've been "would you be OK without me so that I can get us some clothes at the house?" I did feel uncomfortable in hospital gowns so I nodded my head.
Jake would be gone for a decent amount of time which didn't bother me. Katie my nurse gave me an approval to walk around the halls of my legs were tired. Like a child, I intentionally walked to the playroom that head dolls, games, wagon, chalkboards, etc. No other kids were there after 9 o'clock which meant I had the two rooms to myself.
There was a jukebox play soft melodies in the far corner. The urge to dance along was irresistible. I took a peek to make sure nobody was here watching and when the Coast was clear, my arms spread out while I let my legs flow to the music. I was well enjoying myself dancing through at least three songs. So distracted that I didn't realize Jake had walked in.
"Anyone who watches you would think you've been in valet your whole life. It's better than any other dancing I've seen. The flow is this what does the ocean." I stood still in my tracks. Jake was watching me dance and when I finally picked over my shoulder, she was relaxed against the wall.
"... How long have you been there watching me," I asked slowly. Hopefully it wasn't very long because he would end up telling all his buddies. As much as I loved Jake, he can be quite the loud mouth when he's around the guys.
"I watch the last two songs. Is my presence disturbing you? I could take another trip somewhere –"
"No no, you're fine. I'm just a little embarrassed that's all." We were facing each other now. I couldn't help but laugh at the way he was standing; lead against the door, arms crossed, right leg crossed over the left. "We should go back to the room, Katie must be looking for me anyway."
"Actually she's the one who told me that you snuck in here after I left. Would you like to bring a board game back?"
"No thanks, I still need to shower and get some rest. If you're still in the mood tomorrow then sure." I tried to think of what day it was and I remembered Dr. Jehnsy's call. "Oh no! I was supposed to meet with Dr. Jehnsy after school! Did you call him back today when you got out?"
"Don't worry love, I called him on the way here. Dr. Jehnsy said that there's no need to worry either. He wants you to heal before you can go back to school. Speaking of missing school, Mr. Koféy asked me to help you stay up-to-date on work."
We were back to the hospital room on the left side of home three. I took a warm shower making sure I didn't get my bandage wet. Jake one in the hall to talk to Katie while I got dressed. Her sister ended at midnight but she would come back at noon tomorrow. My plan was to go to sleep before 12 but Jade pulled out our doodlebugs. I drove until 2 AM and Jake drill until 2:30 AM.
December 6 was my second day of staying at the hospital. Since we were at home to cook, Jake and I ordered pancakes, bacon, and apple juice. By 9 o'clock we were cleaned up and ready to go back to the playground.
Three other kids were there with us, two in the toy/game room and one in the bike and wagon in reading room. I've never been the second number for today. There was a garden on the right side of the room, making the room smelled fresh. Sun shone in from the sunroof.
"What game would you like to play," I asked while looking through the cabinets. From a guess, there was at least 35 different games to choose from. Some child games like littlest pet shops or paw patrol.
"I'm debating over monopoly, sorry, an apple samples. Which do you prefer?" I couldn't choose a game because I like all of them. Monopoly would keep us busy the longest, apples to apples would need more than two players, but sorry what's the simplest.
I finally decided, "monopoly wouldn't be a bad choice. At least we don't have to worry about how long we play. Will be here all day." I grab the box from itself. It's been a long time since I've played the original, usually I played farmopoly.
It's took three hours to finish one round of Monopoly. Jake won the game due to me running out of money. Yes if I wanted to play again but it made me too tired. I suggested we take the game back and maybe watch a movie. No doubt I would fall sleep quickly.
On the third and final day, I was told that it was OK to leave by 3 o'clock. We started our day off by ordering our usual breakfast. Jake packed the bag while I clean the food and movies that we watched yesterday. Spawn was Jake's first pick followed buy the movie game plan. I chose Flicka which used to be my favorite.
