"G'night, (Y/N). Sleep well."
【=◈︿◈=】
Sun filtered in a tiny window in the corner of your hotel room, slowly and naturally waking you up as it came into your eyes. Your eyes widened for a minute when you realized someone was in bed with you at your back, but quickly relaxed when you remembered it was just Porter.
Slowly you turned around in bed to see if Porter was awake, only to see his face pressed onto the pillow peacefully. You didn't want to wake him, but you really had to go to the bathroom.
Slowly pulling off the blankets, you were able to quietly escape the warmth of the bed and heat radiating off Porter. You brushed your teeth with the provided toothbrush and toothpaste the hotel gave you, and took a quick shower. When you were done, you felt relieved to be clean. You had been traveling and surviving for so long, you forgot what cleanliness felt like.
Coming out of the bathroom, you saw Porter sitting up with half-slit eyes. His hair was slightly messy with a bed-head in the front. You tried not to laugh at his confused, tired appearance.
"You okay, Porter?" You smiled raising an eyebrow.
He suddenly blinked, slightly jumping as his eyes flashed open, "Wha?!"
You couldn't hold back your laugh, "Porter did you just fall asleep sitting up?"
He looked up at you and then around the room. He too, almost forgot he was not in his own bed.
"Apparently..." He said embarrassed, scratching his head.
----
"Where can we find a map?" You pondered as you and Porter stood on the sidewalk a couple blocks down from the hotel, "That would be a good start to finding home."
"Let's ask somebody," Porter said before waving to a girl with a light blue hat, "Excuse me, can you help us?"
The girl stopped with a smile, "Sure! You guys look like tourists!"
"You could say that," Porter said, "Would you happen to know where we can find a map?"
"Of Static City?" The girl asked.
"Im sorry, I mean the Worlds. Do you have a map like that?"
"Oh yes! The Worlds!" The girl smiled, before digging out a map from her bag, "You can have mine! I live here in Static City, so I don't have much use for it."
"Thank you so much!" Porter bowed.
The girl bowed and smiled, before walking off into the street.
Porter opened the map as you stood closer to him, looking at the map.
"Okay so... here's static city," You pointed to a city on a ring that seemed to go in a clockwise motion, "...and here's the platforms we were at before," You pointed to a cluster of broken earth pieces near the top, almost as if it were at one 'o clock.
"Is it me, or is it the city that does the actual moving?" Porter noted the circle the city's symbol was on, "It looks like a clock, as if we started at 1, where the platforms were."
"I wonder how often it shifts..." You wondered, "It came to the platforms yesterday, so maybe it's at this next spot at 2 o'clock with the tree symbols?"
"Let's go to the edge of the city where we were before and see." Porter said, as you both began to run across crosswalks and blocks.
Sure enough, when you got there, there were no longer broken earth platforms,
but a large, floating forest.
