CHAPTER 1

Slowly I got out of the yellow taxi and turned around to see the familiar weary and tired face looking at me. His dark brown eyes always holding same coldness were indifferent. We just looked at each other until his voice cracked the silence.

“You should get going, the bus will be leaving soon.” The indifference hurt but I had gotten used to it over the years of hearing it.

“I guess you’re right father I should get going.”  I raised my head to the sky above trying to think of something to say.

“The sky is quite stormy, there might be rain by the time I get to the school.”

“St.Adams Academy, don’t get the name wrong.”

“But I mean why am I even going there? I mean why do I have to go to boarding school for my whole High-school?”

Father looked at the coldness and me exasperated in his voice slightly annoyed as he glanced at his watch, not bothering to hide the fact that he seemed late.

“I don’t need to explain my self to you in any way Isadora.  Now go, I need to be somewhere.”

I nodded and walked to get my black and pink luggage from the back of the car, and walked over to the bus stop.

“Bye Father.” I nodded in his direction and turned back on my way.

“Goodbye Annabelle, oh and read the peace of paper in your bag for any information.”

I nodded without turning back and sat down at the bus stop.

My name is Annabelle Grace and I have recently turned 15 and I am being sent off to some boarding school in Arizona high up somewhere.

“Hey girl are you gonna get on or not?”  I looked up at a middle-aged bus driver looking at me annoyed.

“I uh, no I’m not. I’m supposed to get on bus 149.” Checking the piece of paper.

“149? Sweetheart I think that you got the number wrong, the busses here end at 147.”

“But I—I’m sure that’s what it says here!”

“Tough luck sweetheart! See ya.” He closed the green bus door and went off before I had the chance to say anything.

“Oh great, a bus number that doesn’t exist.” I murmured to myself.

Slowly, time passed so slowly until the sun started setting around the horizon and I looked around, as people had already left and filled on their various busses.

A screech woke me up from my daze, as suddenly in front of me there was a huge dark blue bus with two levels, and about 60 seats in all.

“What bus are you waiting for girl?” The old bus driver seemed about 100 years old, old even for an old person, and he smiled sweetly.

“Uh I’m waiting for bus 149.”  My hesitation shook a laugh out of the old man and he gestured to his surroundings.

“Well you don’t have to wait anymore, welcome aboard!”

I smiled and saw a sign saying “149” at the front of the bus.

“Thanks.” I put the luggage on the bus and stepped on grateful that my wait was over.

“Name?”

I looked over at him, “Annabelle Grace.”

“Take any seat you like, we have a long drive ahead of us.”

I gave a nod and walked up to the second floor, choosing a sort of weird bed sitting beside a large window and settled down.

My eyes slowly started to fuzz and I fell asleep instantly but not before wondering one last time what was so special about that Academy.

“That it’s going to show you who you truly are…” the whispered phrase was the last thought I heard before I fell asleep, but not knowing if I truly heard those words or not.  I was going to find out one day…
