"Captain's log, Stardate 2263.47. Our five year mission has been well under way for about a year now. Things with the crew seem to be in order, as they always have been, and I have noticed the closeness of us all has become much tighter knit in the last few months. We have just received orders from Starfleet Headquarters to set in course for Andoria, the class-M moon inhabited by the Andorian and Aenar people that orbits a gas giant in the Andorian system. We are to reason with the people inhabiting the moon about a new treaty to use surrounding planets and moons of their system for Starfleet bases, much like how Earth is colonized today. I am slightly skeptical of this mission, as the crew of the Enterprise has come across hostile Andorians in the past. However, we thankfully do have several Andorian crew aboard that can provide valuable assistance if tense situations may arise while we are there. At our present speed, we should reach Andoria in 3.6 hours, and at that point Mr. Spock, myself, Dr. McCoy, and Lieutenant-Commander Zerias Sh'ikyllak will beam to the surface and rendezvous with the Chancellor of the Andorian Empire, Renoth Ch'tarith. Hopefully the Chancellor will agree to our proposal, and if not, we must try our best to convince him," Jim Kirk speaks valiantly into the device that records his log entries. His nervousness about the encounter seems not to shake him, as he still acts with just as much calamity as he always seems to have.
"Captain, we will be making our final approach to Andoria in approximately 3.54 hours." Spock looks up from his instruments panel.
"Thank you, Mr. Spock. Present speed, Mr. Sulu?"
"Present speed warp four, sir."
"Good. Continue on present course. Mr. Spock, you have the conn." Kirk stands from his chair, making his way to the turbo-lift as Spock takes his place in the captain's chair. As the doors slide shut, Kirk punches the buttons to reach deck 5, where his personal quarters are located. He hasn't had time to rest--let alone breathe--for almost 72 hours, and he definitely needs all the recuperation he can get before this extravagant mission that Starfleet has assigned.
Although I should be up on the bridge, if I don't get some rest, I'll be absolutely worthless. And that would not be a good thing, especially on this mission. Jim thinks to himself.
As he enters his room, Jim presses the button on his desk to hail the bridge.
"Kirk to bridge. Lieutenant Uhura, I'm going to get some rest before the rendezvous with the chancellor; I'll be in my quarters if you need to reach me. Make sure the other crew on the bridge get some rest if they can. You may bring in some of the personell from downstairs to temporarily take over bridge stations if need be."
"Yes, sir. I will inform Mr. Spock of your orders." Uhura's smooth voice comes through the speaker on his desk.
"Thank you, Lieutenant. Kirk out."
Kirk heavily sets himself onto his bed, pulling a book from the small table about an arm's reach away. It may be the 23rd century, but he still enjoys a good classic novel every once in a while. Not too long after, he begins to drift off to sleep, waking himself every few seconds. Yet finally, he succumbs to his body's need for slumber, and his book tumbles from his hand to the floor. He sleeps soundly for a solid 3 hours before he is woken by the sound of his communicator hailing him. He reaches across the bedside table and flips it open.
"Kirk here," he answers the call in a groggy voice.
"Captain, we are making our final approach to Andoria. Present speed is warp one and slowing. I suggest you return to the bridge as soon as you are able to," Spock informs him over the line.
"Alright, I'll be right there." He flips his communicator closed, clipping it onto his belt. He forces himself to get up off the bed despite how much his tired muscles protest. He briskly walks to the turbo-lift, taking it up to the bridge.
