Bradley woke up in a small puddle of blood, and a pounding migraine. He held his head as he slowly pushed himself off of the bed. His nose was bleeding again and some blood leaked from the side of his head. His already aching body was surged with another wave of pain as he stood up from the bed and looked at the sheets. Blood was everywhere. He sighed as he realized that if it didn't get it clean by morning, another beating would be waiting for him. Bradley stumbled into his bathroom and opened the medicine cabinet. The battered ferret grabbed the bottle of painkillers and pulled out a small white pill. Swallowing the pill, he walked out into the bedroom and saw that a small amount of blood on the carpet. Something else that would need cleaning later. Bradley sighed and looked out into the hallway. Panic and rage flooded over the ferret as he ran into the slightly opened door across from his. He bursted into his sister's room and started to look around frantically. A hushed voice was heard from the closet. He ran over to the closet and flung the door open. His sister was curled up in a blanket with her doll, shivering with obvious fear. Bradley bent down, ignoring his body which screamed for him to stop, and gently tugged his sister's hand. She stood up and hugged the older ferret and mumbled "The neighbors stopped by and insisted for him to go help them fix something at their house". Bradley nodded as he rubbed the frail ferret's small back. Bradley guided his sister out of the hallway and downstairs, making a right into the kitchen. Bradley grabbed a bag of chips and a small box of cereal for his sister. He set the food down on the small dining table and watched his sister eat for a few seconds. He smirked as he watched the young ferret greedily eat. Bradley got up and grabbed a box of poptarts from the back of a cabinet. They haven't been opened yet and would provide a decent amount of food for now. He sat back down at the table and opened the box, grabbing a shiny package and tearing it open. He bit into the frosted breakfast and sighed as his stomach pains died down a tad. He barely noticed how fast he ate the poptarts as he tamed his hunger to a light rumble. Bradley sighed as he leaned back in his chair. His headache was at a dull throb, but he had his sister, and food. He looked over to Kati as she finished the bag of chips, the cereal was long gone. Bradley gathered all of the garbage, and his box of poptarts, and put it in the trashcan, hiding it with his parent's empty beer bottles. Chatter from outside the garage door made the ferret flinch in fear. He Picked up Kati and hurried back up the stairs. "Go try to get some sleep. I'll keep you safe if anything happens. Lock the door and keep quiet."Bradley whispered, setting his sister down. She nodded as she quickly hugged her brother before closing the door. Bradley heard a reassuring click and walked to his room, closing the door and locking it. And now to clean...
