Recap: Chapter Two

"The battleship rejected you," one said slowly. "We need to take you to the emergency facility."

I stood there, confused. "The ship didn't reject me," I said.

"We got a rejection signal from this pod in the control tower," he explained.

"She's telling you the truth." A man said from behind them. The instructors gasped and moved into the corner of the pod as he walked in. He was incredibly tall and thin and wore a long, white jacket. His glistening, brown hair was tied together around the centre of his back. But the first thing I noticed was his shining, golden eyes.

He grinned. "The ship didn't reject her. She rejected the ship."

Chapter Three

I stared at him, incredulously. Who was this man and why was he saying such impossible things?

He turned his back at me and started to slowly descend on the glider. I ran to the entrance of the pod and watched him. He suddenly stopped and raised his arm.

"Follow me."

I jumped on my glider and descended behind him. I was somehow attached to this person, but I didn't know how.

Just as I was about to leave the dome, following this mysterious man, I turned my head and saw May-Brooke. She was standing in the crowd, who watched the man leave as I followed. Her expression hurt me. She looked confused and betrayed.

I didn't stop and say goodbye. I looked away and followed the man.

"Sit down, Rhea."

The man had led me into a ship. It was very beautiful inside, so I guessed it wasn't a battleship, just a regular travel ship.

The captain came into the sitting room as I took a seat on a beautiful, antique chair. I think it was Victorian. I wasn't very good at history.

The man told the captain to take leave of the Academia and make way to Base 712. Then he sat down across from me and smiled. He poured himself a red liquid into a glass and slowly drank it, looking at me.

"My name is Zarrian," he said.

I nodded looking at the deep, red coloured carpet. I didn't know how to speak to him. I was sure he was of high stature.

"I am third in head of The Ring."

I felt myself stop breathing. The Ring was the law. They were the all powerful men who governed Liberanimus.

"Breathe, darling."

I fell to the floor on my knees before him. I couldn't think of anything proper to do before this powerful man.

"Look at me."

I lifted my head, and looked into Zarrian's enchanting, golden eyes. I suddenly felt a familiar, cold sensation on my cheek. I hadn't even noticed him bring his hand to my cheek. I had been too busy studying his eyes.

"You have a very high energy level," Zarrian said, smiling.

I nodded, mute.

"So I am taking you to Base 712," he said, letting his cold fingers fall away from my cheek. "There, you will learn how to control a powerful weapon."
