The Mystery of Elisa Lam

In the last chapter you read about Elisa Lam and the elevator situation. This mystery was one that I am quite interested in and I hope that you will be too.

The elevator

The girl in the elevator is twenty-one year old Elisa Lam at Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. On February 2013, Lam went missing for two weeks. In the video, recorded by the security camera in the elevator, Lam walks into the elevator and seemingly presses multiple floor levels. She then waits for the elevator door to close, but strangely the door seems to be stuck open. She then proceeds to peak her head out o the elevator, looks right then left, then quickly jumps back inside.

As you can see, after a few more seconds of waiting she moves to where her back is facing the wall of the elevator then scoots down to stand against the control panel. Then, she hesitantly peeks around the side of the elevator then jumps out of the elevator after seemingly trying to convince herself to walk. 

She then takes a step left and then backs into the elevator, all the while the door stands open. She then steps back out of the elevator and steps to the left of the elevator-out of the view of the camera. You can see her raise her hand up to her head and hold onto it. She stands just out of the cameras view for a few more minutes before stumbling back inside, holding onto the sides of the elevator.

She then proceeds to press down a row of buttons frantically, over and over. She walks back out of the elevator after pressing the buttons and stepping off to the left again. She starts making weird motions with her hands and moving them around in circular motions. 

The video isn't in the best quality, but to me it looks like she starts making crosses using her fingers (But this is just my opinion, I don't know if she actually is). While making the unusual movements, she starts speaking. The way the camera is we can't see if she is talking to someone or something. 

She then puts her hands back on her head and then she leaves the elevator as if nothing had happened. Then, the elevator starts working again and the doors close, as if the whole ordeal had never happened.

What happened to Elisa after she leaves the elevator?

Shortly after she left the elevator, Elisa somehow made her way up to the rooftop. Keep in mind, the rooftop was supposed to be locked. She supposedly opened and climbed into the hotels water supply tank and closed the very heavy lid, successfully drowning herself.

There are some flaws in this, but i'll get to that later. 

Anyway, her body was found two weeks (or 19 days depending on where you get your information) after her death. 

The hotel residents started complaining of foul tasting water and they explained that the color of the water was a murky brown or black. 

Do you know what that means? It means that they tasted her rotting corpse through the water. I mean, really think about that. They drank this water, brushed their teeth and bathed in this water.

Maintenance went to see what was causing the problem and that's when they found Elisa Lam's body. 

The Autopsy Report

The autopsy report showed no traces of drugs, alcohol, or any traces of foul play.
