I thought for my first chapter I would tell you guys a personal story.
My friends and I were walking around outside of my grandma's apartments.
It was late at night, around midnight or so and Mason kept trying to scare me by randomly yelling out boo and when he would walk behind me, he would grab me when I didn't expect it. We had just watched a whole bunch of horror movies and I was actually kind of paranoid, as embarrassing as it sounds, and Mason knew that. So, I laughed it off and kept walking. We were walking around the side of the building, Abby and I behind the two boys.
They were walking a little bit ahead of us and we were laughing about a stupid joke the Abby told us. A car had come towards us, it's light shining in our eyes and I brought my hand up to cover my eyes.
I didn't think anything of it because, it continued driving past. We continued walking, talking about random stuff that I don't really remember.
We walked around the complex once again and were fully around to the back side when another car passed us, this time coming from behind us. I watched as the car continued ahead of us, expecting it to continue moving forward, but instead the car stopped, the red brake lights shining towards us.
We passed the car and I glanced at the window. Seeing the person inside, I quickly sped up, walking next to the boys with Abby. Once again we passed around the building and yet again another car passed us, but the closer I looked the more familiar the car seemed.
By now I was a little nervous, but I didn't want to seem like a baby or anything because, I realized I was probably just being paranoid. Plus, what could happen around a complex like this with cameras and stuff. At least I think that there were some cameras.
Anyway, I continued talking with my friends, but this time I kept looking behind me. Once when I looked behind me, I saw the same car, now with the headlights off, and it was slowly creeping behind us. I noted that there was a man in the car, not an older man like most of the men here, but a teenager.
I was actually scared by now and I told my friends that I thought the car was following us. They all looked back and Mason thought I was just being paranoid so, he waved to the car and laughed at me, saying I was just being paranoid.
This car had been following us for the past 5 or 6 minutes, maybe even around 10 minutes.
I told them I wanted to go back inside. Jordan was ready to go inside with me, he looked a little freaked out too. Mason and Abby didn't want to go in because, there really wasn't anything to do in a place like this and they were having fun outside.
We were getting ready to walk over the slab of road to get to the other side of the building when the car pulled up in front of us, blocking our way.
I told them that we should go back inside and finally they all agreed with me and we started walking around the car to the door on the other side. But the car moved forward and blocked us once again.
We literally started running to the door, while the person got out of their car. I frantically tried to stick the key into the door, trying to get the door unlocked. The doors are always locked and I was so scared that I was fumbling with the keys. As soon as we got in I pushed the door closed.
I was so scared that I couldn't sleep that night and even the next couple days, I was still unbelievably paranoid.
Later that week I found out that the person in the creepy car was just Mason's friend playing a prank on us and when he was getting out of the car he was trying to tell us that it was him.
