Joshua's P.O.V
Breakfast ended as fast as it had started and then from there on out it was off to class advisory once again. Usually, we headed straight to our lockers than classes, that wasn't the case today, though, today we had an assembly for Kane Rangewood the Alpha's son and upcoming Alpha who would soon take on the role to lead our pack and well as for the others getting mates later tonight.
Everyone adored Kane, teachers, friends, family, students, peers, even people from other packs loved Kane, it wasn't unusual, though, Kane was a good person and he was going to be a great leader. No matter who you were or what your ranking was Kane tried to understand you, I think he definitely got that from his mother, our Alpha was a lot more strict. Kane also wasn't one to judge others for anything but their actions, it didn't matter what you wore or your level of bravery, he didn't care about those things, he cared about whether you made good choices or bad ones. We've interacted a couple times before on accident, he was kind, I won't give him a trophy for being kind but it was better than a lot of other things I got from people.
Possibly the only thing I didn't like about Kane was that he hung out with the losers, and by losers, I mean the jocks and preps. The jocks and preps were all high ranking Betas and family friends of the Alpha's family, they held the most power in the school but they didn't know how to use that power, they mostly abused it, I don't think they know any better though to be honest.
I headed into my advisory and sat down in my normal seat... in the back as usual. Sitting down in my seat I kept my eyes on my hands as I twiddled my thumbs and waited for everyone else to get into the classroom. I kept my eyes down and fiddled with my hoodie strings for a minute or two as the once quiet room filled with the chatter of teenagers and what their plans were after school. Most conversations though were filled with questions and guesses of who everyone thought Kane's soul mate was going to be. Great, this was probably gonna be the topic of the day and I was going to have to hear all about it. To be truthful, I wasn't excited at all about the topic, yes, of course, I was deeply happy for Kane that he was finding someone to care deeply for and to find out our future Luna. But I wasn't so excited about the chatter that was going to be around it, I think the waiting was another worst part about it too, waiting and waiting and waiting to see who the lucky girl was. I got a knot in my stomach and an uneasy feeling in my body just thinking about everything, I didn't feel well at all, but at the same time, I don't know why that's the case. I took a shaky breath and gently rubbed my stomach consoling myself quietly and trying not to attract attention to myself, that was the last thing I wanted to do.
I looked up when I heard everyone start to quiet down and a voice spoke over shhh-ing the rest of the talkers. It was my advisory teach Mrs. Windley.
"Alright, as you all know we'll be having an assembly shortly to congratulate not only our next Alpha but the others who are getting a mate this evening. I expect you all to be on your VERY best behavior, I will not tolerate any foolishness at this assembly, it is important." She spoke as if she were already scolding us.
You saw people nodding their head and others saying "yes" and "okay".
"Alright," she smiled and clapped her hands together passing out small slips of paper around to everyone. "Now before we go I'd like for you to write your name down on your piece of paper, to make things a little more interesting we'll also be doing a raffle so some of you can win prizes," she smiled.
I looked down at my paper before printing out my name on it, people stood up and gave their slip of paper to Mrs. Windley as everyone started to leave the room, I was the last one and gave her a half smile before rushing forth to try and get into the auditorium as soon as possible, the sooner we get this over the sooner the day will go by and it's just one more step closer to leaving.
