Joshua's P.O.V
It was eight at night, the festival would be in only a few minutes followed by the ceremonial call of people's mates, then everyone would party and the partying would stop around eleven or twelve like usual. At the moment my brother was helping me put on a tie, this was a semi-formal event because the Alpha's mate was going to be introduced. Usually, at the festivals we have games and snacks, it was a celebration after all.
I watched my brother as he tightened the tie around my neck and smiled down at me stepping away and letting me turn to look into the mirror. I was wearing a button down white shirt and dress pants, my tie was white and I had a black coat to go over it. It wasn't sweatpants and baggy shirt comfortable but it wasn't bad either. I looked at my brother and smiled, he wore the same clothes as I did, we were matching.
I chuckled under my breath and smiled to him softly "we look great" I state and look back into the mirror as my brother rests his arm on my shoulder.
"We do... don't we?" he smiles and I nod.
I move away from the mirror and look over to my bed grabbing my coat and sliding it on with a smile looking at the doorway as my father enters the room.
He claps his hands hurriedly "come on, come on" he says impatient "this all should have been done already, they are going to start soon and our Alpha will have our heads if we don't show up on time."
I hurry to the door with my brother and all three of us make it quickly out of the house, all festivals were held in the center of our pack territory, it would be a 3 or 4 minutes run if we were quick on our feet.
We ran and as we approached the festival we slowed our pace, people were just starting to gather around and the Alpha and his family made their way onto the stage that had been set up. Looking around everything was beautiful, it was Autumn so colored leaves laid on the ground covering our forest area, it made everything light up beautifully under the natural light coming from the full moon. My brother and father left me going to their normal spots towards the front while I kept my place in the back where I belonged.
The Alpha started to speak "It is a beautiful night out tonight isn't it?" he asked and people clapped in agreement before he began to speak again "let's make sure this turns out to be a wonderful night, I thank all of you for joining us all out here for this season's first mating week festival!" Cheers were heard along with whistling and happy shouts, I swear, though, our Alpha could cough into his sleeve and it would be treated as if he just ended world hunger.
He starts to talk again, "alright!" he smiles "you all have just about an hour until we start to announce mates, please, enjoy yourselves!" more clapping was heard as he exited the stage.
I clap as well but softly watching our Alpha walk off before having my eyes wander to the side slightly. That's when I spot his son, Kane, and he's looking back to me. His lips curl up into a small smile and I can't help but smile back my heart speeding up in pace. We make eye contact for a couple more second before people start to walk about, probably off to go and play games and enjoy themselves, I lost site of Kane. I sighed and made myself in between people looking around at all the things to, there were games and puzzles and lots of food lined up on tables, I was positive we couldn't eat or weren't allowed to eat now, but the food did smell good.
I looked around and walked for a bit before spotting a group of children playing and wrestling with each other, I smile to myself and watch from a distance. It was nice to see them having fun but I was positive there parents wouldn't be too happy with them getting their clothing dirty like they were at the moment. I chuckled to myself and rested my body against the tree that was next to me, tonight really was beautiful and everyone truly seemed happy, it was nice to see.
