Brennan's POV
I wake up and see that Annie's still asleep so I need to be quiet. I got up and went downstairs everyone was still asleep so I waited for them to wake up. I made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. By the time I was done with breakfast everyone was down here. I looked around but Annie was missing. I went upstairs and saw that she wasn't there.
B-"hey y'all where's Annie I can't find her."
S-"she's out on the dock."
When did she go out there I thought to myself.
B-" I need some fresh air."
"Ok" everyone says
I walk outside and walk over to Annie. I sit right next to her.
B-"hey." I say as I smile
A-"hi"
I looked at her I guess I never realized how broken she really is. I've never seen her smile.
B-"how come I've never seen you smile."
A-"I haven't smiled since my brother passed away. Not even katie or Sydney could make me smile. So that's why we came here. Because they said I needed to get out of my funk."
B-"you do need to get out of this funk it does nothing but bring everyone else around you down."
A-"you don't get it and you never will!"
B-" get what, what is there to understand?!"
A-"i can't ok I don't know how."
She says practically whispering the last part.
B-"what do you mean you don't know how all you need to do it be happy."
A-"how am I supposed to do that when the worst thing that has possibly happened in my life is blocking it. I don't know how to get over it. I don't know how to move on. I've been like this for a year. Nobody's been able to change me."
B-"if you just let me I could help you. I could help you go back to how you used to be."
She doesn't say anything back all she does is stare. I start to lean in. We are centimeters apart from kissing and she gets up.
A-"I told you I can't."
B-"why?"
A-"because I'm scared that if I trust you your just going to leave me like everyone else I know. The only people who have been there for me besides many family are katie and Sydney. I can't even trust them anymore."
I don't say anything
A-"you wanted to know why I can't change well there it is."
She says as she walks inside.
