His breath came out in abrupt, venomous pants. His eyes burned into the wall ahead of him, his jaw clenched and his teeth crushed together. He had woken to find the knuckle of his pinkie wrapped up and the table cleaned to a shine.
The door creaked open but Nate didn't move a muscle. He could hear heels clicking off the floor and he instantly knew who it was. Fury ignited in his body, his heart beat at a mile a minute.
She sat across from him, laying down a clipboard and placing a pen beside it. She clasped her hands on the paper and stared at him.
Nate's eyes lowered slowly until they met her gleaming ones. A knowing smirk tugged at her lips and she coughed to break the stale air between them. Nate's eyes narrowed as they glared at her with pure hatred.
She avoided his gaze and studied the papers in front of her. She made a tutting sound and glanced up at him very so quickly. "I told you we'd have to use extreme force." She mumbled in a sing-song voice.
Nate lunged. The restraints yanked him back but he did succeed in making her jump in fright. She hit the back of the chair with such a force she almost fell back. She gasped as Nate hissed in both pain and resentment, his spit flying out and landing on the table and the papers.
Her hand pressed against her thumping chest, hoping that the pressure would slow her pounding heart.
"What the fuck is wrong with you!?" Nate spat, drawing his lips back into a snarl. Veins were protruding in his neck and arms, his face was beginning to redden. His eyes were bloodshot and watery as they bored into her own.
She swallowed and looked away, dragging the chair back forward and trying to play off her fear. She pushed the glasses further up her nose and picked up the pen, preparing to write. "The results were disappointing, as expected." Her voice shook as she announced what she was reading. The pen convulsing in her unstable grip.
Nate dragged his body back, feeling the blood in his hand start to pound. He could feel a headache rising and he grunted to himself.
"We have a few more...serums so we'll need a few more samples," She said as if she were asking his permission. She waited for his response, clicking the pen out of habit. She coughed and licked her lips, trying to keep her eyes planted on Nate.
His head titled to the side and he let out a dry, humourless chuckle. He leant forward and push his pain to the side. "Go fuck yourself." He spat, smirking at her and shaking his head in disbelief. They'd already taken his finger, what more did they want?
She smiled to herself and tucked the pen in her breast pocket. She pressed her lips into a thin line and looked up at him with fake sympathy. "Oh," She whispered sorrowfully, sarcasm twinkling in her eyes. "You don't have a choice," She whispered with a smile, pushing the chair back and standing up.
Nate's eyes widened and he watched her walk around the table. "No," He whispered, shaking his head as he followed her movements. "No," He could feel anger rising and he wished more than ever that he wasn't held back. "You piece of shit!" He screamed as she slammed the door behind her.
She leant against the cool metal, hearing Nate's screams slither under the door and reach her ears. She pushed away the sadistic smile that she could feel creeping upon her face and nodded at the two men.
"Take eh..." She pouted in thought and looked down at the paper that showed the results from last time. "Half a finger, the more we have, the more tests we can carry out." She strode down the hall, ignoring all the cries of pain and keeping her head held high. She punched in the pin with her claw-like fingers and hauled the heavy door open.
