Imagine being awake for hours and crouching over the toilet bowl because you’ve been puking up your insides almost all morning and wee afternoon. A light knock taps at the bathroom door right before it swings open to reveal your on and off boyfriend who seems awfully concerned. “Aye babe. Is everything alright in here?” Chris asks, pacing further inside to check on you and he gets down on one knee aside of you to pat a hand over your back as you’re beginning to heave again. “…No I’m sick,” you shake your head and grips each side of toilet seat for balance. “I bet it’s from those spicy chicken wings and spicy dipping sauce you’ve been eating,” he chuckles and grips your hair with his other hand. “You know you can’t handle eating spicy food.” Though it’s true, you object because you’ve been going through this illness for days now. “It’s gotta be morning sickness,” you tell him and he immediately pipes up. “S-say that again?” helifts an eyebrow and you’re almost scared to repeat yourself in fear for how he may react. “I said, I-I’m pregnant,” you breathe. Chris moves a hand down to your stomach to feel for a sign of a baby and you smile to yourself because he knows absolute nothing about pregnancies. “Let’s go take a pregnancy test, then.” He happily makes for suggestion as if he could partake in the actual process and shrugs his shoulders up then leaves past the threshold. Next, you stand up to your feet and walks to the medicine cabinet to open it and grab the pregnancy test that’s on the top shelf and goes on to read the directions that’s on the back of the box when Chris returns to the bathroom holding up a Pepsi bottle in his hands for you to gulp down. “Thanks babe,” you murmur to him as you’re sliding down the thong panties you’re wearing and eases down to the toilet seat, ready to rip open the box and urinate on the white stick. In the meantime, he’s watching from across the bathroom having his body reclined against the cabinets with his elbows propped atop of the bathroom counter. “Baby you nervous?” Christopher questions, staring over at you chewing on the inside of your lower lip. You nod slowly and glance at the white stick that’s lying on the tile floor in front of you realizing neither of you are ready for this huge of a responsibility nor would he or yourself know how to handle it. Though there’s alternatives during pregnancy and after, it’s still scary to go through. “…Is two minutes up yet?” Christopher saunters to the pregnancy test to pick it up and get a glimpse of the results on the little screen, but he’s a bit confused as to what the signs mean. “What does the minus sign mean?” You shoot up instantly after he says this and trots over to him and hops in excitement. “Baby it’s negative, oh my god it’s negative!” But he still has a look of confusion written across his face as to why you’re celebrating. “That means I’m not pregnant and we’re not having a baby! Aren’t you so glad?!” You exclaim and pull him into a bear hug and sways him side to side in your arms because you’re so happy this was just a pregnancy scare. “Yeah that’s great news,” his voice utters in a sad monotone, “we’re not having a baby.”
