I wake up and notice my mate's still form. For a while I just gaze at him, he looks even younger when he sleeps, a peaceful expression adorning his features.
Okay, I'm being creepy now. It was very hard, but I manage to finally rip my gaze away from him and stretch.
I glance lazily at my hands, noting the healed flesh and-
The...flesh.
I'm not in my wolf form anymore. Somehow I shifted into my human! I look down at my body in horror.
I need clothes!
I shift back into wolf form and dash to my usual spot, my bag still where I left it.
A much needed wake up call breaks me out of whatever reverie I'd been in. I need to leave! My mate was completely distracting me from the fact that I needed to get him out of here!
I'll have to meet him in human form, there's no other way. It's not like I can talk to him as a wolf!
I rifle through my bag and try to find some decent clothes, something I'm not in huge abundance of, and decide upon a plain forest green t-shirt, and some dark loose jeans that were a few sizes too big, they were a bit crumpled and didn't smell the best, but I didn't exactly have the time to complain.
I run a couple fingers through my hair, trying to work out the knots. It doesn't help. I think back to the showers I'd quickly taken advantage of back at Mrs. Magdalen's in longing. Feeling clean would probably help my dwindling confidence right now. I grumble to myself and shift so I can change back.
I sniff myself, I smell earthy but not completely awful. My mate's still sound asleep in his room, so I head for the kitchen.
The shiny metal sink was calling out to me, and I turn it on, to its lowest setting. I gulp some down and then splash it on my face, trying to clean the dirt I'm sure is still there.
I hear my mate stirring in his room and hastily shut it off. I need to figure out how I'm going to go about this.
He mumbles something and I look for an exit when I hear his feet hit the ground. The front door is the closest to me so I carefully open it and slide out. Through the big window to the right of the front door, I see him.
He briefly peers outside through his thick dark lashes. Then he does a double take. We lock eyes and he hastily moves to the front door and swings it open.
I don't know what to say so I just stand there while he takes in my appearance, mouth agape. "H-Hello, do you need any help?"
I nod, calmly. His disheveled hair was begging my fingers to run through it, we were so close. It was different being this close to him while in human form, more intimate.
He looks dumbfounded and limply gestures for me to come inside, which I do.
"What-" he stops himself, looking like he's trying to gather his thoughts. "Do y- do you need to use my shower?" He finishes lamely, not taking his eyes off of me.
I nod, a small smile crossing my features and he softens.
"Yeah just uh- just follow me." He says, but he doesn't move, his gaze still fixed on me.
After a few seconds I clear my throat, which seems to snap him out of it. I want to grin, but I suppress it. "R-right," he stutters. "Sorry, uh..." he turns around quickly and leads me to his bathroom.
I notice him peer vaguely down the hallway in the direction his room is in. "The wolf!" He exclaims.
I figure he finally noticed my absence. I feign a confused look.
