Solar Eclipse

The sun droops low,

pulling its blankets of clouds closer.

Showing one final, and colorful sight

before resting in a much needed slumber.

Darkness raced across the sky,

wanting to feel the last rays of warmth

before the cold wind pushed it away.

Then, a young planet opens its eyes.

It glimmers in the distance,

looking at the suns lost son.

The moon shines weakly, having been

cast away from the warmth of home.

Its pale face glances around,

looking for home.

Every day it gives up, slowly fading

until its light disappears.

Then, the moon races ahead,

energized from a full sleep.

Bounding to come home,

but he runs to fast.

The sun is joyous.

With opening arms at the

return of a lost son,

but it soon fades.

The moon runs past,

thinking the light is ahead,

but it soon tires, and

stops in the dark night.

Its glow fades,

and it steadily walks.

Hoping to find home once again.
