I wake to a burning sensation taking over my whole upper half. My chest, stomach, hips, arms, and even my face burn. I try to open my eyes but they feel like lead and I can't move them. I try to lift my right arm only that makes the burning worse so I immediately stop trying to move.

I lay there, wherever I am, trying to pry my eyes open. The task proves to be difficult so I give up entirely. My senses slowly come to me. First a burning fills my nose, like wherever I am is sterile and clean. Then I hear a beeping. A ticking of a clock. A whimper. Then I feel something warm and calloused on my hand. Hot sparks tingle my hand and I know immediately who is holding my hand.

Like magic, my eyes fly open. I am temporarily blinded by the bright light but I force my eyes to stay open. My eyes find Blaiz sitting on my left. His brown hair is greasy and matted, his bright blue eyes are even brighter and blood shot, dark black bags under his eyes, his normally tanned skin is almost white, and he is sporting a full-on beard that he could braid.

"B-," Is all I can get out. My throat is dry and it burns to try and talk, but Blaiz's eyes snap up to mine anyway.

"Milo!" He shouts. "Kaleb! Kaleb he's awake! Kaleb!" The last time he shouts the name 'Kaleb' he is louder.

Then a door flies open and a doctor runs over to my bed. "Thank the goddess! Milo, how are you feeling?"

"W-," I choke. My throat burning so bad a hot tear slides down my cheek. "Water," I end up mind linking to Blaiz.

"Water," Blaiz repeats. "He wants water, Kaleb," His eyes never leave mine.

What is going on? Why am I here? I know I'm in the infirmary now, but what am I here for?

"Here," The doctor hands a water bottle to Blaiz. "He cannot sit up yet, so you will have to do it for him,"

Why can't I sit up?

Blaiz nods his head as he unscrews the cap. "Here, baby, have some water," His voice is strained and weak. Then I see a tear run down his cheek. My heart skips a beat at the sight of that one single tear. "Drink, baby,"

It hurts to open my mouth but I manage to get it open just enough for Blaiz to drip the water into my mouth. At first the water burns my throat too, but the more my throat gets coated the better it becomes. Once the bottle is empty Blaiz crushes it in one hand and tosses it somewhere beside him.

"Mate," My wolf coos inside my head.

"Wha-," I take a deep breath as my throat still burns. "Here for," I force out.

Blaiz stares at me, that sad look seeming to be permanent on his handsome face. He glances at the doctor for only a second before his eyes snap back to mine again.

"Baby, do you remember anything?" Blaiz asks, his voice so small.

I try to think back. I remember starting my day with Blaiz. Then he left for work around two in the afternoon. I spent the afternoon with Alpha Sebastian. He was doing homework and I, I, I sat there doing nothing. Then Alpha Sebastian wanted to go for a walk. What happened after our walk?

"Walk?" I ask unsure.

"Yeah, baby, you went on a walk. Do you remember who you went on a walk with?" Blaiz asks as he nods his head slightly.

"Alpha Seb," My throat burns but I need to know what happened.

"Do you remember anything after your walk with Alpha Sebastian?"

"No," I tell him truthfully.

Blaiz glances back up at the doctor.

"Milo, do you hurt?" The doctor asks. He looks familiar with his graying hair and light shade of blue eyes. He looks fit under his light green scrubs too.
