On the night of the dance, Mandy came over to get ready with me. I kicked Brent out of the room, telling him that I needed time to get ready without him getting in the way. He grumbled about it a little, but agreed and said that he and Matt would wait for us downstairs.

Mandy and I closed ourselves into the bathroom and did our hair and makeup. Since I rarely ever wore makeup, Mandy helped me with mine. My hair was left down, but we used the curling iron to add some waves to it.

Once we were both ready we got into our dresses. Mandy was wearing the one she’d seen the day of the water fight; it was dark blue with spaghetti straps and it fell to just below her knees. It looked really good on her, and I knew Matt would like it.

When we were finally finished with everything, we went downstairs to hunt down the boys. We found them in the kitchen, munching on some cookies that Sherry had given them. When we entered the room, Brent stood up and walked over to me. “You look beautiful,” he said.

I smiled up at him. “Thanks. You look really good too.”

Brent was wearing black dress pants and a stone gray shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Matt was dressed similarly, only his shirt was dark green. I looked over and saw that he was standing in front of Mandy with his arms around her waist. “Are we ready to go?” I asked.

“Just a minute, I need pictures,” Sherry said, coming towards us with a camera.

We posed for a few pictures and then left the house. We all got into Brent’s truck, having decided that we might as well all go together. We arrived at the school a few minutes later and Brent parked in the fairly crowded parking lot.

Brent came around the truck to take my hand as we walked into the school. “Are you excited?”

“Yeah. I’ve never done this kind of thing before, so I’m looking forward to it.”

He raised my hand to his lips and brushed a kiss over my knuckles. “We’ll make sure it’s a night for you to remember then.”

After going in the front doors of the school, we turned in the direction of the gym. We could hear the music pumping out and I saw a few people in the hallway. We passed them and stepped into the large room, where people were either standing around drinking and eating, or dancing in the middle of the floor.

Brent pulled me onto the dance floor right away and slid his arms around my waist, pulling me close as we started moving to the music. I wound my arms around his neck and smiled slyly. “This is why you wanted to come to this thing, isn’t it?”

He grinned wickedly. “Of course it is.” He ran a hand up and down my back once possessively. “I get to dance with you all night while all the other guys watch jealously.”

I laughed and played with the hair at the nape of his neck. “And all the girls here will be dying of envy because they don’t have the sexiest man to themselves.”

He brushed his lips over mine in a gentle kiss. “Plus, having you rub against me all night is a pretty big bonus as well.”

I arched an eyebrow. “Oh, I know something that’s big,” I said suggestively and then giggled when he let out a quiet groan. “Down boy, we’ve got all night to dance. The anticipation will make it so much better when we do finally go home.”
