Kenzie

After seeing how Drew's wife just treated him I decided to comfort him. I sat next to him. I rubbed his back.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"I'm fine, sweetie." He said.

"I'll never treat you like that. That shit was so low man. Does she do that to you a lot?"

"Yeah, but I don't wanna think about her! that's not why I'm here!"

I smiled. "Good! .. So you married to white girl but you tryna be with a black girl? Humph. Really just looks like you tryna switch sides to me babe!" I knew that would make him laugh.

He laughed. "Ive always kinda liked black women deep down inside but my parents never approved of it sooo, yeah!"

"Racist?" I asked.

"Yeah. My dad was very racist. My mom isn't though. She loves everybody. No matter their color or anything like that."

When he said that I smiled brightly. It reminded me of my mom. She simply loves everybody. Her and my dad adopted me when I was 1 years old. They walked into the orphanage as one white couple and came out as with a family. That day they simply were just looking for a child that thought really needed a home. When they spotted me they said they knew I was the one.

"My mom is like that too! I love her." I smiled.

"I'll actually be meeting her tomorrow for a teacher's parent conference." He said.

"Oh really? For what?" I asked

"She requested one for all your teachers. Her and your dad just want to see how you're doing. They said you all are going through a really rough time right now and they want to see what they can do to help you." he explained.

I paused for a second. "she said that?"

"Yeah."

"Oh.."

"Everything okay?"

"Perfect." I lied

"You know you can talk to me about anything right? Tell me whats going on." He said while holding my hand under the table.q

"I'm honestly the guarded to type to be hella real guarded and shit."

"It'll stay between us. I won't tell anybody. Let's trust each other."

I sighed deeply. Is this the type of shit that came with a relationship?

"You promise?"

"I swear baby!" He said as he kissed my forehead.

"Okay. Well. A couple months ago everything was fine. My mom and dad both had hella amazing jobs as lawyers. Like everything was perfect. But then they were laid off because of this fraud thing. At first their boss and IRS told them that their accounts would just be frozen for a couple weeks until they could fix things and then they would be able to come back to work. They said they would call when things were all straightened out and they never did. So of course now, we have no money and have lost everything. And I seriously mean everything. We're living out of our car and my mom and dad spend everyday looking for jobs and very unsuccessful." I explained as tears fell outta my eyes.

He wiped them and then hugged me and held me tight. "It's okay baby. Don't cry. I'm here for you."

It actually felt good to have somebody truely be there for you. He held me for what felt like forever and whispered sweet nothings into my ear. Was is sage to say there was love between us already? Or was I just overreacting tremendously. I don't know but we would see very soon.
