"I love you," my love said with a smile.

"I love you," I return immediately. Her amazing smile drops from her face. "What's wrong, love?"

"You never say 'too' at the end of 'I love you', why is that?" I lower my gaze and blushed a scarlet red. "You can tell me." She pulls up my chin making me look at her.

"One of my old girlfriends." She makes a sour face causing me to smile at her. "I always added 'too'. Closer to the end of our relationship I learned that she never meant 'I love you' the way I did. When I added 'too' it wasn't actually the same as her. I just grew into habit of not adding it. I never knew if when someone said 'I love you' to me they were meaning to say it the same way as I did." I lowered my gaze once again. I have never shared that with anyone.

She dips her head making me look at her again. "You don't have to do that with me. You know I love you as you love me. When I say 'I love you' I mean I love you everything with my entire soul. That's how I've always meant it with you. Surely you know that." And in that moment I knew that's how she meant it. She loved me as I loved her.

I smile at her. "I do know, and I'll always know that."

Her stunning smile crept across her face. "Good. I love you."

For the first time in a very long time I said, "I love you, too." And with that my love kissed me lovingly.
