Chapter 5: Escape

The Owl's POV

Oww....What the fuck....

Head aches swarmed me as I moved around a little bit...

"Hey little guy! Wakey wakey!" A voice ran through my mind, not recognizable to me. My eyes started to open, as my feathers were being touched.

It was another two legged creature, like the ones who took me. She ran her fingers through my feathers again and again. Bitch don't touch me!

I slapped her with my other wing, startling her. "Hey, it's ok. I know your scared." Yea no shit Sherlock.

I looked around, noticing I was in another room, just like the last one I was in before I past out from the pain.

This time...The black and white bitch is here with me. "He's your friend right? They told me you guys shipped here together." 

Friend...Fuck no. I ain't no friend with this fucker. 

Though he was staring at me, both of them were probably waiting for me for a while.

"I'm getting you guys out...You two have succeeded in all the tests you were given. Even though you were only given one...The other test subjects have died a second after they were indosed with the liquid..." she paused from her words, as she looked back at the raccoon. "If they find you alive...They will make you into a weapon."

My eyes widened, as she released my wings from their trap. I stood up, a little soar for some reason, and shook off my wings. I stood before her, as the raccoon hopped onto the table with me, standing next to me as he tried not to look at me. "You guys are the key...Your the key for the government to create a whole army of animals." She stared down at us as her long brown hair brushed upon her face. She blew it away from her face and looked back down at us. 

"Listen, your going to mutate into human beings, just like myself. It might seem strange at first because you will have pain through out the first change." She was breathing heavy, as we heard footsteps leading to the door. She looked at the door, realizing they were coming to this room. She looked back at us with panic. "Go...NOW!!" 

She picked us up, carrying each of us in both of her arms. She pulled out a gun, and shot the window until it shattered enough for all the glass to fall. 

"I'm sorry...I hope we see each other once more...If we do...Speak these words, 'I am me.' I'm sorry..."

I realized she was about to throw us through the window into the open air. "W-Whoa! D-Don't!" I screeched and tried to get out of her grasp, but she already threw us out. The rain started to hit our fur and feathers as the storm was unbearable.

The raccoon and I flew through the air, as I started to flap my wings. But I looked down...Watching the raccoon screaming for help as he started to fall. "H-Help!!" I dived down, sending my wings tearing through the air straight down. 

My eyes started to water from the air hitting my eyes with force. As I got closer to him, I reached my talons from underneath my feathers and reached for him. 

His black fur connected with my talons, as I gripped him. I flapped my wings, and pushed them out as I glided above the trees, barely saving him. He screamed in fear, closing his eyes and folding himself in a little ball. The rain hit the raccoon and I as I flew upwards.

I arose us into the sky, noticing the sun going down. 

The same sun that I have seen for years on end, again here with me and the raccoon.

Although, this isn't the same forest....It was a forest but not the same one though. The building we were in was in the middle of no where...Great.

"Thanks...For saving me." I heard the raccoons voice, making my eyes widen from his words. "Don't mention it." I kept flying, until I found some kind of shelter.

Aha! Yes! I watched as a huge tree was in view, far enough from the hell hole we were in. I glided down towards it, and went flying down. 

I dropped him, making him scream once again. But he landed on one of the trees branches so it was kind of funny. I landed on a nearby branch, watching as his fear took over him. He looked down as he clenched the trees branch, shaking in the process. "You ok their, buddy?" 

He shook his head, and shaked even harder when he looked down towards the forest floor. He was afraid of heights. The rain hit his fur, making him even more terrified.

I sighed, and jumped, making my wings open and flap towards him. My talons clenched his fur, as he was startled and screeched. I led us toward the forest floor, dropping him at the bottom where he sighed in relief. The rain burrowed its way through the leaves, making its way through the forest floor, so we still didn't have shelter.

He walked over to the trunk of the tree, and burrowed his way into it, clawing the tree until he reached a little area for shelter. "Here." He looked back at me, probably waiting for me to get in.

I sighed, and walked towards it, diving in as my feathers dripped water. I shook my feathers, making them dry. 

We both huddled together for warmth, it's a tactic for surviving...

I hate being this close to him...Grr...
