Maya's POV

As soon as I heard the shutter of the camera go off for a second time, I immediately got out of Luke's grasp without making any eye contact. My eyes scoured the room for Mali and when I finally found the familiar lace material, I dashed over, trying to seem subtle, with Luke's words still in the back of my head. Luckily I didn't have to wait long for her conversation to end before I grabbed her arm and dragged her into the kitchen. I quickly got a red cup and poured a large amount of watermelon vodka.

"Woah, Katie! Are you alright?" Mali asked as she noticed the copious amount of vodka in my cup.

At this point, everyone started to make their way back and the music began playing again. The parents all grabbed their drinks and were backing to chatting and laughing. Just as I was about to respond the familiar blonde hair turned the corner into the kitchen, followed by the other 3. Luke's eyes met mine and a smirk formed on his lips. I instantly looked away to find Mali looking at Luke, her eyes wide and her mouth in an 'o' shape.

I placed another cup similar to mine in her hand and she dragged me back to the living room.

"Maya was Luke just smirking at you?! Did something happen?!" She squealed, before taking a large sip out of her drink.

"No, nothing happened Mali. He's just an idiot," I rolled my eyes, before taking a sip of the vodka in my cup. The drink burned through my throat and the rush made me feel exhilarated.

I looked back at the kitchen to find the boys all holding about 2-3 bottles of beer which they then took upstairs. Except they were followed by a few other boys our age, who held cartons of 12-can beers. Typical.

I scoffed looking back at Mali who was looking at me smirking.

"What?" I asked her raising one of my eyebrows.

"Nothing," she replied, sipping her drink as though she was the infamous Pepe meme

"C'mon Mali, I know you have something to say," I pressed, slightly pushing her with my free hand.

"Well, you were just staring at him.. so I mean if you and he have something I won't judge," I choked on my drink at her last words and let out a few coughs which earned some looks from the people in the room.

I set my cup down on a table that was right next to where we were standing, before regaining my composure.

"No! Mali. There is nothing there between me and Luke, Jesus why doesn't anyone get that?!"

"Okay okay," she shrugged, "but I still think you two would look good together."

I groaned at her response before chugging down the rest of my drink. About half an hour later we found ourselves stumbling through the room. By now each of us had a couple more drinks, which was more than enough to get us drunk. I bent down sitting on the couch, as I reached for the strap on my nude heels and quickly slipped off both shoes as Mali did the same for hers as well. We both moaned as our feet stretched freely once they were placed on the ground evenly now. We placed our shoes in a corner and went back to the island in the kitchen to get another drink.

"Howww muuch do your want Malliiii?" I asked, starting to pour some of the Jack Daniels that was in my hand. I must've been pretty wasted since I didn't notice the cup and the bottle being taken out of my grasp. I snapped my head back to where the bottle was and saw my mom looking me.

"Maya Autumn Parker. You will not have any more to drink," she scolded pushing me away from the table.

I stumbled back before replying, "but Mommm, I'm fine, see?" The words slurred out of my mouth as I tried to prove my sobriety to my mother by "spinning" in a circle. It was a bad choice of action since I almost fell to the side, and my mom caught me, helping me regain my balance.
