I woke up to a text message from Mark. I was a little confused as to why he would text me, out of all the people he knows.
Mark : You know what sucks?
Me : What?
Mark : Being rejected even before you ask someone out.
Me : I'm guessing that you're talking about Herin?
Mark : Bingo. She's got a boyfriend and apparently, she's moving to Japan. Her flight's at about 5:30 to 6.
Me : Sorry to hear that. You seem to really like her.
Mark : I just found her nice, I guess. I mean the boys came up with the idea to ask her out.
Me : Then maybe you were hypnotised by what they were saying and you convinced yourself that you liked her.
Mark : Maybe. So what do you suggest?
Me : Uhm.. I don't know? I barely know you.
Mark : You've got a point.
Me : I always do.
Mark : She invited me to go to the airport to send her off.
Me : Ah so you finally found her number?
Mark : Yes. Should I go?
Me : It's your decision.
Mark : I need your opinion to confirm my decision.
Me : Well, it might be the last time you'll ever see her so I don't see why not?
Mark : Guess I'm going then.
Me : Have fun.
Mark : Do you want to go for coffee?
Me : Uhm.. What?
Mark : You know, coffee. The thing extracted from coffee beans?
Me : I know what coffee is. But why?
Mark : Why not?
Me : Sure.
Mark : Woah really? Okay. Meet me at the coffee shop near school in about.. an hour?
Me : Alright. See you.
And with that, I hopped into the shower. I decided to keep it simple and wear a plain black shirt over denim jeans and black sneakers. I grabbed my sling bag and my phone as I went out of the house. The wind blew furiously at me, causing for me to go back in to change into a sweater.
Soon, I began walking fast towards the coffee stop. The sky showed signs that it was about to rain and I did not want for me to show up drenched.
Light drizzle began just as I entered the shelter, making me a smile in relief. I took out my phone to text Mark.
Me : I'm here.
I sat down on the bench outside the store, waiting for him. Moments later, he arrives in a black car. He rushes inside, brushing a hand through his hair while his eyes searched for me.
"Hey. Sorry, did I make you wait for long?" He asked as I stood up to walk towards him. I shook my head. "Let's go in then." He says with a small genuine smile as he opens the door for both of us.
"Hello. How may I help you?" The cashier asks, giving us a smile. "Uhm.. I'll have an Americano." Mark says, looking over to me. "I'll have a White Chocolate Frappe." I said while I took out some money, giving it to the lady.
Mark blocks my hand, taking a card out of his wallet and giving it to the lady. "I can pay for myself." I said, furrowing my eyebrows. "I invited you out so I'm paying." He says simply.
We stood by the end of the counter where we could collect the drinks. "I'm sorry. Did you order the White Chocolate Frappe?" The barista asks. "Yeah." I told him, furrowing my eyebrows.
"I accidentally made two of the americanos. I'm sorry, let me remake your drink." He says, bowing apologetically. "Don't worry about it, take your time." I told him, trying to assure him that it was fine. He smiles, nodding.
After two minutes, the drink was made. "Here's my apology." He throws the bottle of chocolate sauce into air, catching it so he could drizzle some on top of the whipped cream before putting the cover on it. "Please enjoy." He says with a smile, handing me the drink and the straw.
"Thank you." I say, bowing as I took it from him. I looked over to Mark who was looking me with an amused expression. "What?" I asked him, raising an eyebrow. "You do realise he was slightly flirting, right?" He says with a chuckle as we go over to a table.
I look over to the barista who was focusing on making the other drinks. "He was just being nice." I told Mark, shaking my head as I poked the straw into the cover. "Alright. Whatever you say." He says, taking a sip from his cup of coffee.
We spent the rest of our time at the store, laughing and talking about the things we used to do when we were little kids. It was slightly weird seeing as that we were talking about that out of all things.
He also mentioned that Jackson, JB, Youngjae, Yugyeom, BamBam, Jinyoung and himself were in a little boy group together. I could see it, seeing as they always were together.
"I assume you skipped lunch and breakfast?" Mark asks, looking at the clock. It was about 3pm. I nod, shrugging it off. "Let's go for food." He says with a smile as he stands up. I nod, grabbing my sling bag and walking beside him.
We bought burgers at one of the hamburger joints near by. I unwrap my burger as we sat down on one of the benches outside the store. "Cheers." We said in unison, hitting our burgers together.
He takes a bite from his burger and so do I. I shut my eyes in delight as all the different elements in the burger were combined into one.
"Jimin." Mark says, making me look at him. He swipes the side of his mouth, saying that I had something there. I used a piece of tissue, wiping down the sauce that was once there.
"Hey, aren't you going to go o the airport?" I asked, pressing the home button on my phone to show Mark the time. He looks up to me from his burger.
"I found someone else worth spending time with." He says with a smile. "Ah.. Are you meeting that person later on?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as I kept my phone.
"I was referring to you."
