The Hunted

-Hi everyone! Quick little author's note. Just wanted to say thanks for reading The Hunted, and  it is coming out great so far. I really have tried to think out a way to write, but writer's block kept coming up. Finally I got an idear (My fancy way of saying idea.) and I hope this chapter is ok. Please comment and tell me what you think, and what I can do to make things better, or whatever is on your mind. Thanks!

***Peter’s POV***

“What’s with you man you’ve been quiet all the way to school” Garrett said as he picked up a pebble off of the ground and threw it.

I looked at him and said, “Nothing, I’m fine.” Garrett turned to me and gave me a stern look.

“Yeah nothing. But what is going on? You are usually psyched about your birthday, and the huge parties you throw for your birthday.” He grabbed a bigger rock this time and chucked it.

“I know, I know.” I said. Garrett was right something was up with me, but I couldn’t just come out and tell him I am a werewolf. Knowing Garrett he would just freak out. So I changed the subject, “Are you coming tonight?”

“You couldn’t keep me from coming!” he responded. “What’s the theme again?”

“It’s Halloween, be creative.” I retorted.

“Oh! What if I come as a werewolf!?” Garrett said with an elated face.

“That is a horrible idea!” I said blurted out. Garrett’s face changed from happy to shocked. When I realized what I said I immediately recanted my statement and said,“No offense, just that is so typical.”

“Well I could just come as a hunter.” His face lit up, “Yeah a hunter! I have a bow and arrow at my house.”

“Cool!” I responded in a quiet voice.

“Okay really what they hell is really going on with you.” Garrett demanded.

“Fine, I just having a weird start to my day, and I had some trouble sleeping last night.” I sighed, “I guess I am just really tired.”

“Well take a nap before the party tonight.” I nodded, we were turning the corner and saw the school in the distance. “ Well let’s try to make it through school.” Garrett stated.

“Yeah whatever.” I responded

From where we were standing I was able to hear, quiet but quick feet run across the front lawn of the school.  The trodding was coming from behind us, getting closer and closer I quickly turned around and grabbed. I grabbed their hands, and when I fully looked up at her, it was just my friend Audry.

She squealed and said, “ How did you know I was coming?”

Garrett butted in and said, “He’s been doing that all morning.”

“Sorry” I said, “I could hear you coming. Couldn’t you?” I said to Garrett.

“No! But whatever you have supersonic hearing now! Oooo” He said  sarcastically.

“Um are you coming tonight?” I said to Audry.

“Yeah definitely?”She responded, “I might dress up as a princess or an agent.”She clasped her hands together to mimic a gun and pointed it straight at us.

I instantly said, “Cool!” I stared into her eyes.

Up from behind her comes a teenage, male, taller, more built and wearing a football jacket. He took his arms and wrapped them around her waist, and said in her ear, “Hey beautiful.” He rested his head on her shoulder.

Audry looked at him and took her hand and brought his head closer to her and she kissed him on his lips. “ What does that tell you.” I instantly looked away in jealousy and disgust. Of course Audry had to be dating the star football star, student president and homecoming king, Adam Colwich.

We used to be friends until eighth grade, when he started dating Audry. If it wasn’t for Garrett moving into town that same year I would have become a total ship wreck. But honestly I think Adam isn’t good enough for Audry, she’s smart, funny, intuitive,and above all gorgeous. But what could I do blurt out, Audry I don’t think this jock head is perfect for your, and not to mention I have had a crush on you since forever.

Nope, I had to sit here and watch them be happy together. Thankfully I didn’t have to endure the pain for much longer, because the bell rang. I turned and started walking away from Audry and Adam and towards the school entrance, but before I could get far enough Audry said,” Hey Adam are you coming to Peter’s birthday party and Halloween bash tonight.

I stopped in my foot tracks, I just gotten the first horibble nightmare out of my mind and now another one appears. “ No actually I wasn’t.”

“Peter, do you think it’d be okay for Adam to come tonight like my guest.” She said.

In my head I was saying , “No! No! Hell No! FUCK NO!” But I honestly couldn’t say no to her. No one could say no to her compassionate, calming, and soothing face.

“Yeah, why not. It will be fun!” I lied, “Just be sure to wear a costume.”

“Cool cheez dude.” Adam responded.

“Yeah cool cheez?” I shook my head and turn around and walked into school, knowing I just made the biggest mistake of my life. Now my only life goal was being able to make it through school.
