The liquid behind the gate was filled with pent up rage, anger from my past, hatred from my peers, and a sense of confidence from within.
If those gate doors open, it might as well be now, I contemplated while holding my right cheek. My mouth twitched. Eager to make a sarcastic comment or to yell. My fist clenched. Tempted to do the same to her. Tempted to get it over with- like it was a tedious task- and say "you just got knocked the fuck out...bitch!" The last part a personal touch from yours truly.
I thought it over. Twice ,no, three times in my head. Just continually thinking: Should I be the good bitch or the bad one?
I took a short breath-In and out,as the breathing patterns go- and finally said what I needed to say. "You might be able to slap me. But trust me, my fist are far more fearsome then your privileged little slap." I walked closer to her. Looking her straight in the eye. "Here's a little word of advice, I don't particularly follow by the rules and regulations here and believe me I try to be a little saint from time to time. But when I die, hell is where I'm going and guess what", she stepped back timidly, clutching her purse, as I whispered in her ear, "you'll be right there with me".
That part must've really gotten to her cause she immediately started apologizing to the receptionist- I forgot she was even apart of this tbh- real quick. She even gave me a small thanks and sped out the station.
I looked at the revolving doors, still spinning from her running out, and smirked at my progress. I crossed my arms across my chess triumphantly. All in a days work if I do say so myself. But my celebration was short lived. Someone had grabbed my wrist and led me away.

He gently closed the door, pulled down the blinds, and peeked out to see if anyone cared. Way to NOT look suspicious, I rolled my eyes. He finally turned to me and said: "What the actual fuck Cave !" I cringed at my last name. "It's Caverly not Cave. Get it right asshole" I say correcting him. "Cave, Caverly whatever! I don't give a shit! What I NEED to know is why I have to come out of my office to see you harassing one of our residents!" I clenched my teeth, Oh great! He saw that.
"It was just a plan of self-defense."
"Oh really?", he said doubtably," what kind?"
"Um the good kind! She fucking slapped me! I had every right to tell her to fuck off. Matter-a-fact you should be HAPPY I didn't slap her back! Her dumbass deserved it!" I argued.
He squinted his eyes-i'm guessing to see the bullshit on my face- but I told the truth, and only the truth, and he knew that. Yet he still searched my face. A true sleuth he is.
Finally he gave up. "Fine" he says as he goes to sit down. He stayed quiet for a while then spoke again. "Did you at least win?" He looked at me quizzically. I chuckled. "It wasn't a fight", I began," I just...put her in her place. That's all" I replied as I sat in another chair, diagonal to his desk.
I looked around his office. It was quite basic, I saw no reason getting into detail about it. Literally just look up "police chief office" online and any of those images would be just fine. Typical And cliche. Not a fan of it.
I started fiddling with the papers and pencils on his desk for no apparent reason. Just boredom really.
"Don't get too comfortable, you got a suspect in the interrogation room" he said while shifting through some papers.
I tilted my head, curious. "What? I thought that was Manderly's suspect?"
"Nope, it's both of yours" he responded obviously. I looked at him in disbelief. "But I don't even have a case file."
"You'll get it from him. Now hurry up and go." He said busily. Now not wanting to be bothered.
I sucked my teeth and walked briskly to the door. Though, before I could open it, I turned my head towards him and said my last words:

"Please don't tell mom about the resident thing" I said hesitantly.
"You know I won't" he responded nonchalantly.

I nodded my head at him and slid through the door. Into the hallway I went as I disappeared into the hectic crowd once more.
