After 8 long, arduous years of studying Environmental Law, I was finally done. My final exam was completed. The relief and joy rushed through me as I weaved in and out of the crowd of determined and anxious students. I couldn't wipe the huge smile off my face.
As I was walking down the few steps to get to the parkland, a man rushed past and knocked me down the concrete staircase. I tumbled down the stairs as the environment around me flashed before my eyes.
"Oh, shit! I am so sorry!" He looked down at me with hypnotising, blue eyes. "Crap! Are you okay?" He reached down to lift me up.
"Uh, yeah. I'm good" I replied as he reached under my arms to help me to my feet. "Ouch! Ow! You know what, yeah I'm pain! My ankle is stuffed" I laughed through gritted teeth in hopes to stop the pain.
"Here, I'll help you to the bench," he offered. He put his arm around me, lifted my bags and carried me to the bench. As soon as my bottom touched the chair, I sighed, "oof yep!"
"I am so sorry! Is there anything I can do? Call someone? Rub your foot?" My almost-murderer asked.
"Actually, a foot-rub sounds great right now! Thanks" I replied, happily. He sat down beside me, untied my shoe and peeled off my sock. His large, meaty hands softly caressed my foot.
"How does that feel?" He asked.
"It feels good..." I replied, taking in all the massage-y goodness.
"By the way, I'm Chris."
"My name's Katherine" I replied.
"Ooh! I used to have a dog called Katherine! But then she died from an eye infection..." Chris told me.
"Well, I assume that's a compliment. Right?" I asked, hopeful.
"Yes! My dog was extremely loyal and beautiful," he shared.
"So, I'm a dog?" I asked.
"Haha you are nowhere near being a dog!! Unless you think it is a compliment..." He said, blushing with embarrassment.
"Well I do like dogs, so it's not really bad at all! However, the connotations can be quite awful." I replied.
"Very true!" He said.
"You know, you can stop rubbing my foot now! It's not going to make it any better," I told Chris.
"Well, okay. So, what brings you to the city today?" Chris asked.
"I'm actually here for my final university exam," I replied. "What brings you here?"
"Oh, so should you be studying?" He asks.
"I just finished it. No more uni for me!! WOOOOO" I laughed.
"Congrats Kath! What have you been studying?"
"For the past 8 years, I've been immersed in the study of Environmental Law!" I state in a very intelligent way, "and it has been so damn hard!"
Chris laughs, "Well it was obviously worth it!"
"Hey, you never told me what you're doing in the city." I said to him with a smirk, desperate to get the attention off me.
"I'm here for the premiere of my new movie." He stated.
"Ooh the Jack Ryan one?" I asked. As soon as I looked up at him after I fell, I knew who he was. My goal was to just remain calm so that he wouldn't think that I'm just another crazy die-hard Pine Nut. I'm the type of fan who would read Chris Pine fan fiction everyday, falling in love with the different versions of Chris people would create. I would scour the Internet for all the interviews he would do in both magazines and on television. Watching his movies frequently was my idea of a perfect night.
"Yep! The premiere is in Sydney but I've decided to take a couple month break and spend it in Melbourne, which probably wasn't the best idea since I almost killed you." He said.
"Well, Melbourne is the place to be!" I laughed.
"Okay..." He said. "I'm kind of confused."
"The message under the number plates have that message for Melbourne cars! Geez! How could you not know that?!" I explained.
"Okay..." Chris laughed. "Are you busy now?"
"Nope I was just about to go to a cafe and relax before heading home. Are you busy now?" I said.
"I was actually about to ask you if you would like to join me somewhere," he stated.
"That sounds pretty good, Chris," I accept. After absentmindedly rubbing my sore foot for the past few minutes, Chris slips my sock back on and ties my sneaker's laces up.
"Lead the way, Katy" he said, motioning his hand towards the unknown city of Melbourne.
"I would be honoured to, however my ankle is still completely stuffed!" I laughed.
"Well, let me help you lead the way then," he said, "and again, I am sorry, Katherine, for hurting you."
"It's fine! At least I don't have my exam on now," I say. Chris smiles as he puts his arm around me to help me walk as best as I can towards the inner city.
