I can see why my partner is the one who wants to chase people in the right direction. He's called Thuynal and he's almost worse than I am at this stuff while he is at least a thousand years older than I am. I'm willing to bet that that decade he spent with the sentinels is including his training period. His aim with the bow is alright, but he doesn't have the grace with the weapon that the others have. He's more than decent with his Lightening, shows that millennia he's got, but more than that he's not quieting his footsteps. The Lightening an elf uses makes that we leave no footprints in the dirt, but thin twigs and dry leaves still make sound if you step on them.

We had a simple plan, we both agreed that neither of us had the level of skill to pull of anything complicated. He would look for someone and try to chase that person in my direction so that I could perform an ambush. Up until now it wasn't working all too well... Whoever he found always noticed him from a millum away, makes me feel ashamed that he was able to sneak up on me.

I closed my eyes to concentrate and pushed my ability to its limits to feel out the presences that every living creature possessed. I could only notice insects extremely close to myself, small critters such as mice or rabbits I could notice even a decent amount of metra away from me.. I noticed a small group of dear about thirty metra to my right, since I had connected to Thuynal before I could single him out easier. He was around 200 metrum away from me and just started to come my way. He was a hazy presence so far away and had he been only a few metrum further I wouldn't have been able to notice him.

I opened my eyes and gasped for air. I could feel the headache that came with overextending my powers coming up. I still had a lot of practice coming up if I ever wanted to use my ability to its full extent.

Holding an arrow at the ready I waited and concentrated on the presence coming my way. As they were about fifty metrum away I could feel the second presence enter the range of my ability. I pulled the arrow back, stood up on the branch I had myself propped up on and drew in a deep breath. As the two presences were about to burst through the brush I allowed the air to leave my lungs and let the arrow loose.

As the elf that Thuynal was chasing came through the underbrush he noticed me immediately, hard not to as I was standing in the open with a huge bright yellow spot on my too large cloak. But he was too late, my arrow hit him square on his chest at exactly the same moment.

A second later Thuynal stomped through the brush with the grace of pack of dire wolves. "Ha! Got you now!" he shot an arrow on the back of the elf he chased. "yea, finally got you, thought you got rid of me did you?"

I dropped next to them and facepalmed at the comment of Thuynal. The other elf with us reached his hand out to me. "That was a nice shot there little missy. How did you hear me coming?" He had turned half a circle my way as he ignored Thuynal who only now noticed the big blotch of yellow on the other elfs chest.

I shook his hand and answered his question. "I hadn't really, I may have cheated a little bit. I also knew that Thuynal here was going to chase you this way so I really only had to wait for someone to be chased this way. He isn't the greatest at being subtle though, so most noticed what he was doing from more than a millum away."

He gave a short laugh at that. "Yeah, I was curious what he had planned so I thought I'd let him send me the right way, not expecting to be noticed before someone could see me." He gave another quick look over. "You're the one with the enigma ability, huh?"

I gave him a smile. "It's the reason I'm being allowed to join you guys already, also how I managed to notice you so early." To give him a small show on what I could do I threw a link between the three of us and shared my amusement about their confusion. They hadn't ever experienced a telepathic link after all. "I can share emotions and with concentration simple thoughts. Same with any other form of magic, the more I practice it, the easier it gets. My grandpa thinks I'll be able to hold telepathic conversations or share what I can see with enough practice." With a bit of concentration I send a simple hello to their minds. "When I concentrate I'm also able to 'see' the presences around me, though that gets more and more vague and unclear as distance grows."
