I peeked outside through the large gap of the wall with a interested stare, gazing just beyond the forest to see the bright lights of the city.
I could never get tired of seeing it every night- so.. alive and colorful.

I averted my gaze from the city and took a look back down at my sketchbook that held a copied image of the aesthetic view while I twirled the dull and old pencil responsible for it.

My hand tired and aching from drawing for so long, I figured I'd continue tomorrow before setting it aside, looking over at Zerra and finding her staring right back at me with intense amber eyes that pierced right through my murky brown ones, giving me chills.

"You're doing it again." She stated while looking away from me and at the city.
"Doing what?"
"Being perfect." She answered with a smirk, eyes still on the city.
"Oh fuck off!~" I said playfully, smiling as a heat rose up to my cheeks.
I

lumped against the hard concrete wall behind me and looked off to my right.

"Mm.. Been a whoile since we saw wot's up in the city, hahin't it? I mean, papers date back to 3 months ago." I said softly and looked at her for her response.
She only shrugged and put her legs over the edge of the broken wall of the room, staring off at the city lights. She looked deep in thought and since I was curious about what she was thinking of..

"Thinking 'bout da city people?" I asked and she nodded with a small frown on her face.

"..I mean. They're so.. ugh. They have warm blankets, cozy homes, food 24/7, money, dildos.." She trailed off.

"...First of all; We have warm blankets, maybe not as warm as theirs but it's somethin'. It may not be cozy but this is our house, and we do have food 24/7.. just not as fancy as theirs. We have money too, like.. fifty dollars. Also bitch, what you talking 'bout? WE HAVE DILDOS. I SHARPENED THE WHITE ONE AND USED IT ON THAT SQUIRREL WHO TRIED TO TAKE THE NUTS I COLLECTED!" I yelled and she gave a cute laugh.

"..True. Nuts are kinda rare this season.. Except they're not, we just suck at collecting food." She joked.. okay it was true.

"...Hey, let's lock everything up and leave at midnight to the city for some goods. You always love our little trips to see the city lights up close.
No one's really gonna notice us at midnight and the cheap stores are more easy to find at that time. Once we come back we'll get some rest." I said and she gave me a look that just said she wasn't up for it, but I didn't care.

".... Midnight it is." She sighed.

----------------------------------------

"IT'S COLDER THAN A WITCHES TIT HERE!" I screeched, giving her a fake pout.
The sudden screech caught some attention of others passing by but it didn't last more than a couple seconds. Zerra laughed though which was good.

"Shut up, we don't wanna drag attention. I thought thinking logically was your go-to?"
"It is. I knew that people would just ignore us. We won't be here long anyways, just here for the paper, some good ol' shoplifting, and maybe.. buy a new CD of Eden, Watsky, Seafret, Twenty One Pilots, and Jon bellion?" I asked, giving her the puppy eyes which she just looked at me basically done.

"No CD'S." She said as she grabbed my arm and lead me to the small gas station.
It looked closed despite saying "Open 24 hours". Guess someone just wanted a break.

"Perfect.. Hey, you grab the goods and some bathroom supplies while I go and get the paper." I said, handing her the grocery list and two big bags to put everything in. She looked pissed but kept her cool and flipped me off.

I just gave a cheeky grin and headed out to across the street to open the metal box thingy for the paper when I noticed that in the far distance.. There was someone limping and it sounded like they were groaning loudly. It sent a few shivers up my spine but I just shrugged it off a bit and marked it off as a drunken lad who's had a rough night. I got the papers and ran back to the store for Zerra, finding she had all of what we needed.

"C'mon let's go. I'll hold the heavy bag.. I kinda got an eerie feeling but eh, probably nothing. You know I'm not good at figuring out things so let's just get home and hit the hay.." I mumbled and she nodded.

"Don't worry, kinda got that vibe too. I heard a bunch of moaning from the backroom but it may be some dude getting dat puss. Or dick. I don't judge." She joked at which I grinned, grabbing her hand and starting to run with her back home which was almost a mile or two away.

I have a bad feeling 'bout this place.. Hopefully we don't come back for a while.
