TIP NUMBER ONE ⇅ WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY ON STEREOTYPES
There's no such thing as having a character that's too white or black.
A person's race doesn't define their behavior.
If a character likes casserole and starbucks, let them like it. That doesn't mean that they should be a white character.
Make your story diverse, just because someone is of a certain race doesn't mean they should be match stereotypes.
Maybe those characters just like those things.
Try to break stereotypes and feel free to twist them up a little.
For instance, you may have a black character who can't stand watermelon, likes classical music, and loves to rock gothic style.
Always remember your main character doesn't have to be the stereotypical girl or guy like most of these books on wattpad.
Several books on are from a female's perspective. You can get creative and make the point of view a male, cat or the earth itself.
Some people are a bit shy when it comes to writing stories with people of cultures and ethnicities different from theirs, mainly because they don't know much of it, but make your character(s) unique.
Don't build your character off of stereotypes.
It doesn't make you as the author look any better.
Just to set it straight, not all stereotypes are true; so for you to have your character match up to them shows your lack of trying hard to break those horrific images of people of color.
Not all teenagers are people who go to parties, have sex, steal, smoke weed, and etc.
Don't assume what you don't know.
It's about time that we leave stereotypes back where they came from.
Fill your book with your elements because, at the end of the day, it's about what you have in mind.
Don't forget to have fun! writing a book can be difficult, but it is what you make it.
