"Just do as I say and you'll be fine!"

Brendon takes short steps, as his black shoes step on the petal-scattered carpet floor. His breathing syncs his steps. In, out, step, in, out, step. He can feel his sweat dripping from the side of his head as he approaches the podium with Sarah, an arm wrapped around his.

"When I do the signal, run. Okay?" Sarah whispers in his ear as they stand in front of the priest, who was conveying the opening speech.

"What if this doesn't work, Sarah?"

"It will work. Just keep running. The best friend I know never backs down anything."

Oddly enough, those words calm his frantic thoughts.

"Promise me one thing, Bren?"

"What is it?"

The priest begins to address them, preaching on the common spiel of living in holy matrimony. But Brendon barely listens as Sarah's words overpower the speech:

"When you return to this altar, promise me it's with the one you love, okay?"

In Brendon's ears, he would consider that as one of the most honest things someone has asked him to promise. But that's just like Sarah to ask for something that would for his own benefit.

The priest looks at them expectantly, waiting for the exchange of I do's to escape their lips. But Brendon's more known in writing his sins, not tragedies.
