"Please, ladies and gentlemen, your table is ready” the sharply dressed guy from earlier called to us. The mechanics and engineers started to follow the guy through the crowds. I looked up to see Nico floundering around stood with Paul and Steve. I didn’t know whether to go up to him or not, but as the guys started to move, Laura grabbed my arm and linked up with me and we walked through with the others.

“Ladies, please, take a seat” the guy smiled at me and Laura politely, pulling out our chairs for us to sit down. “Thank you” we both smiled at him sweetly as we sat beside each other, Paul sitting at the other side of Laura. I looked around for Nico and he was nowhere to be found all of a sudden. “Water miss?” a waiter appeared, distracting me from my search. “Oh thank you” I nodded at him, and then watching him fill my glass.

As he finished up to move onto the next table, movement in the space beside me made me look over, seeing Nico taking his place to my right. “Are you okay?” I asked him with a smile, “Yes, thank you, I got caught at the bar by Bernie” he said, then placing a coke beside my water. “Thank you” I smiled at him. “You are welcome” he smiled at me, his dazzling expression seemingly back to normal. “Are you hungry?” he asked me, looking down at the table, “starving!” I giggled in reply. He chuckled at me and nodded, “Me too” he responded, making me giggle a little more, “Nico! Vick!” we heard our names being called, and there was Mike with his phone held up, Laura appeared behind us with Paul, so we moved a little closer, all four of us posing for Mike. “Great!” he called to us with thumbs up as we then parted. “You’re lucky to get her to pose for a photo!” Laura laughed at me, as Mike ushered Nico and I together for one of the two of us. I shot Laura a look and pulled my tongue out at her. “Take advantage!” she laughed again. I looked back to Mike and he was ushering us to get closer. I must admit I felt a little bashful, but feeling Nico’s arm on the back of my chair, I moved my face closer to him, smelling his crisp cologne for the first time, and it made my stomach swirl. He moved his face closer to mine and we posed for the photo. “Lovely!” Mike winked at us as he stood up.

“May I take one of us?” I heard Nico say from beside me. I looked back at him and smiled, “yeah, of course” I nodded at him. “Cool” he replied, lifting his phone up in front of us to take a selfie. We moved closer together once more, this time feeling Nico’s hand softly sit on my shoulder, I leaned in close to him and looked up at the camera. A quick flash and it was done. Thank god, I hated photos of myself! He looked down at the photo and smiled, “you need to step your game up Hulk mate” Mike teased from behind us. We both looked round at him and then at each other and laughed, sharing in the private joke we had earlier on. And just then, the lights went low for the one and only Bernie Ecclestone to come and give us his speech.

……………..

Twenty minutes passed by and Bernie was done, wished us all a pleasant evening and then the first course was about to be served.

I was quite surprised that there wasn’t much talk of tactics too much around the table, everyone seemed to be in pretty high spirits and were out to have a good night before the really hard work began tomorrow.

“Vick” Laura nudged me as she read something on her phone. I turned to her from my melon wedges that had just been served and looked down at her phone on her lap hidden a little under her napkin. There on her twitter account was the selfie I had taken but an hour ago with Nico. “Laura!” I whisper shouted at her, “It isn’t me!!” she whispered back, pointing at the account.

Me and my beautiful date. #punchingabovemyweight #stunning

I read the caption and my face flushed crimson. “How cute is that” Laura cooed as we both looked at it. I had to admit that it was a pretty good photo of us both cuddling up together. “And look, you got 200 favourites already!” she exclaimed, pointing at the little yellow star she had obviously clicked too. “Jesus, there’s people messaging him, saying how hot you are!” she cackled. “Oh shit” I gasped, putting my head in my hand. Laura giggled and nudged me in my side again. “Enjoy it girl, he’s perfect for you” she winked, “but we’re not together” I corrected her, “you will be by the end of the week” she replied and I smiled and bit my lip.
