"you're telling me... to do what now?" yoongi blinked at his mother, who had her arms crossed in such a serious mannerㅡ she certainly wasn't joking.

"min yoongi." his mother pushed, "i want you to attend bighit academy."

"i didn't get in?" yoongi said, confused.

"under your sister's name."

"okay, no," yoongi crossed his arms. "first of all, that's insane. second, do i look like a girl to you? third, yunmi just passed away recently... don't you think it'd be disrespectful?"

yoongi's mother sighed. "i know," she said. "but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. before the accident, she told me that she wanted you to pass, instead. and i knew from the look in her eye that she would have wanted you to go instead. it's crazy, i know. but she would have wanted you to take up the challenge. only our family knows about yunmi's passing. nobody else does and it's an open window for you."

"pretend to be my dead sister?" yoongi questioned, sarcastic. "yeah, she would have wanted that."

"yoongi," she sighed. "it's only four years."

"compared to the amount of time that yunmi's been dead, i think that it's a very long time." he scoffed. "i'm not doing it."

"i suppose it's your choice in the end," she stood from her seat, "i'm beyond upset about yunmi's death. i want her back too, son. but think about what she would have wanted."

yoongi said nothing.

she sighed. "i'll inform the academy about yunmi."

she walked out of the room, leaving yoongi with his own thoughts.

ㅡ ㅡ ㅡ

yoongi stared blankly at his sister's grave, the material something of dark marble stone.

MIN YUNMI

he winced.

a week prior to now, yunmi had gotten into an accident that had caused her death. it was unexpected. too soon. what was more painful was the fact that during her final seconds, she chose to call one person to let them hear her final words.

"hello?" min yoongi had spoken into the phone, wondering why yunmi was calling him in the late hours of the night. she should have been at her apartment by then.

the sound of heavy breathing and harsh coughs scared yoongi, his hands shaking lightly.

"y... yoongi."

"hello? yunmi? are youㅡ"

a cough. "i'm sorry." her voice sounded rough, seeming like she had difficulty in breathing, or even speaking at all.

"yunmi? where are you? should i call the cops? i'mㅡ"

yunmi let out a shaky breath, "i love you."

and the line went dead.

yoongi shivered, looking up at the mix of grey and light blue colors in the sky as he reminisced in the memory.

born with a one year age gap, yunmi was the older sibling between the two. but she'd constantly admit how it felt like yoongi was older, as he deeply cared for her as if she really was his younger sister.

yunmi was a good person. she was always there for yoongi, always giving him advice and they seemed inseperable from their friends' point of view. perhaps fate had its ways with them. yoongi advanced a year level during elementary, quickly catching up with yunmi, who was ecstatic when it came to the news.

that was the point where they'd do everything together. of course, they each had other friends, but they often spent time with each other instead.

they were always together through thick and thin.

but, of course, siblings fight. but they'd quickly make up afterwards. fights would grow from either jealousy, stupid arguments or decisions on whether or not they should spend time together or with their friends (one would always end up wanting to spend time with the other, the other wanting to hang out with other friends). but it'd get resolved quickly after.

but this time...

"i'm sorry." yoongi clenched his fists at his sides, remembering why they fought on the night of the accident. "but i'll..."

"i don't want to go. i don't want to go without you."

"you don't need me."

"you're the person i care about the most, yoongi! i'm not going!"

bighit academy, yoongi thought. i'll do it.
