KIM TAEHYUNG ARC - 1/?

a few weeks go by slowly. they're nearing the first wave of exams, and...

...no matter what yoongi does, he cannot think straight.

everything has just taken such a toll on him. sure, he was prepared in the beginning, but for a music academy. not bighit. it never even crossed his mind.

as the school was quite an upgrade, the subjects, of course, were quite hard to get a hang of. especially when you're min yoongi, someone who just suddenly got pushed into this whole mess. min yunmi, the real one, was really smart compared to her brother, whose grades before weren't even near the average of the grades you'd have to get in order to enter bighit academy.

which brings us to this situation:

professor lee called the attention of yoongi and taehyung after class. as everyone shuffled out of the room, yoongi started to feel a bit... nervous. namjoon, before he walked out, gave yoongi a smile of encouragement and mouthed the words, "i'll see you outside."

despite all the trouble he's been having with the grades, he was glad to have a friend like kim namjoon by his side. and although namjoon wasn't able to help too much on the studying (he wasn't exactly focused all the time), it was comforting to know that he had a friend somewhere in the sea of people that hated him for no reason.

with the thing that happened a few weeks ago with kim taehyung, he certainly didn't earn more love.

nothing really changed with the boys. namjoon was friendly, as mentioned.

seokjin kinda backed off, the occasional stares still lingering- but it seems like he became more cautious of what yoongi was capable of doing... standing up for the right thing, even though you'd get hated by the whole student body's female population for lashing out at their oppa. hoseok was still friendly, but he wasn't too assuming anymore.

jimin was friendly as well, though yoongi didn't see much of the male. jimin often stayed in the library after classes... yoongi didn't have much time to try and hang around the guy, as his mother urged him to come home early and study more.

jeongguk never spoke a word... not much to say about that.

kim taehyung, on the other hand... yoongi didn't care and probably never will (until now). the guy's an asshole, and yoongi doesn't need to have to do anything with him.

anyway, back to the present.

yoongi stayed quiet, taehyung standing awkwardly near him as their teacher spoke, "it has come to my attention that you, yunmi," it still feels so weird to not hear my own name come out of people's mouths... "are not doing very well in a few subjects. especially in mine... and i've also heard that your mother requested that you do not attend swimming classes and that you'll only be doing so in the final practical exam. why is that, if i may ask?"

oh, well, shit.

yoongi mentally prepare his voice, "uh... you see, sir, i-"

the professor shook his head dismissively. "ah, never mind. as long as you take the final exam, i suppose," he said, "the problem is that you're failing a lot of your subjects so far. that certainly will be a problem... we are supposed to get rid of students who have reached the maximum of failed units by the end of the school year. which is why i was wondering if you-" he turned to taehyung and... oh no. "-would be willing to tutor yunmi until she is able to get decent grades again."

what?

he's gonna say no anyway. "sir, i don't think that's needed-"

"i'll do it."

mother of fuck. yoongi stared at the male student in disbelief. then he turned to his professor, who smiled at both of them.

"perfect. i'll leave the planning to you two," the professor said, as he gathered his things. "this will certainly add up to your extra credit, kim taehyung. not that you'll need it, as you are the top student of this academy..." he laughed lightly.

taehyung stayed silent.

yoongi wanted to die.

- - -

throughout the rest of the day, yoongi resisted the urge to rip the stupid wig off of his head.

it was tempting.

at lunch, he didn't interact with taehyung in any way. instead, he had a hushed conversation with namjoon.

"you know, he's changed. a bit."

"who's changed?"

"taehyung. ah, noona... after that little fight you two had? he hasn't been straight up rejecting girls. he listens to them for a while, before declining. i don't know if he's polite when it comes to the rejecting, but it's a change. after all, he never really did listen to them first... that's that."

"...oh."

- - -

after school, he sees a note inside his locker. it was from taehyung.

it had the dude's address on it, as well as the words on the bottom, "come after school. don't be late."

yoongi feels a bit of a cringe coming his way, because it all felt as if he was in kind of high school korean drama... pretending to be a girl didn't help. one bit.

(his personality was slowly slipping away.)

((one of these days, when he's free from the female uniform, he's gonna have to tell his friend jackson about this shit.))

- - -

at this point, yoongi kinda wonders why he still hasn't been caught... but, oh well.

yoongi shoves the note in his uniform blazer's pocket, taking a deep sigh as he walks to the school doors.

let's do this.
