I sighed as I flew over the snow covered treetops of Blitz. My father had to be hiding here, somewhere. The mountain was vast, and of course, covered with snow, which my father and I blended in with very easily.
I continued to fly over the area, slightly confused, as I hadn't even caught a glimpse of Father. He was an excellent hider, but I am an even better seeker. I shook my head, getting any bad thoughts out of my head, and continued to search around the area for him.
That's when I heard him let out a roar.
It wasn't any old roar. It was a roar that he only let out when he was being attacked. I quickly realized that the roar was coming from the lake that was on the mountain, so I slightly folded my wings into my body, dove down a bit to pick up some speed, and did a quick 180°, and made my way to the lake.

I knew I was heading in the right direction as soon as the temperature dropped, and snow started to fall. My father, Fubuki, and I both have the ability to manipulate the cold. As such, we're pretty good at defending ourselves if someone were to try and attack us.
I silently descended into a clearing that was near the lake. I then began to quietly make my way to the lake, keeping my eyes open for anyone or anything that could be camping in the area. Luckily, the only forces I saw were the ones that were attacking Father.
I knew it was a risky move, but I let out a roar, and the forces turned their attention to me, and then ran over to me. That's when I realized that these soldiers were from the kingdom that was to the south of Mount Blitz, Samarando. I was very confused. It wasn't uncommon for the Samarandians to come and visit our mountains, but it was usually on peaceful terms. Regardless, I quickly fought off and killed the soldiers.

I then ran over to Father, who was on the ground, somewhat injured. "F-Father! Are you okay?!" I cried out with a slight roar.
Father looked at me, and got up and slightly shifted his wings. "I'll be fine, Yuki. My injuries aren't as bad as they seem. And I must thank you. If you hadn't come to my aid, it's possible that my injuries could've been much worse."
I smiled, and gently nuzzled him. "That's good. I would've been devastated if something bad happened to you."
Father slightly shook his head. "Well, now you have no need to worry about such things."
"...I guess you're right," I said after a slight hesitation.
Father nodded. "Exactly. Remember what I've told you. Don't worry about the 'what-ifs'. Only worry about-"
"What actually happens," I said with a sigh as I finished his sentence, which I knew by heart.
Father nodded in agreement. "Indeed." He then looked up at the sky, which was starting to become an orangey-red. "The sun's about to-" he then cut himself off and grumbled under his breath, leaving me quite confused. "...Great. Yuki, you need to come with me."
"Why's that? Aren't we going back to the cave?" I asked.
Father then took a step away from me, putting some distance between the two of us, which was something that he would normally do before taking off to the sky. "We're not going home. At least not yet. I realized that it's a bit too early for the sun to start setting."
"Then...what's up with the color of the sky?" I asked, starting to become a bit worried.
"A forest fire. It has to be the only explanation," said Father before taking to the air. "Come on! We need to go and put it out!"
With a nod, I also took to the air, and followed my father through the sky as we made our way to where the fire was.

As soon as we spotted the fire from the air, we both began to land, not wanting to get too close to the fire, as we were ice dragons, and extreme heat weakened our abilities and could render them useless, or even impossible to use.
Once we were on the ground, Father looked over at me.  "We need to be careful, Yuki. Due to the size and area of this fire, it would probably be best for us to split up and take out the fire."
I nodded. "Alright. Sounds like a plan."
"Yuki, one more thing," he said.
"Yes Father?"
"Just...promise me that you'll do your best to try and stay safe."
I nodded. "Of course I will, Father."
He then gave me one final nod before he began to walk away from me. "Alright then! I'll see you soon!"
"I love you! Stay safe!" I called out.
"I will!" he called back.
With a slight smile, I began to fight the fire.

I was in the middle of icing over a small patch of smoldering grass, and a cloaked figure suddenly came out of nowhere, and stepped on it, causing it to almost melt instantaneously, and I stepped back, surprised. "Who are you?!" I growled."Ah, Fuyu-Yuki, son of Fubuki...I see my plan has worked," the cloaked figure said with a smirk. "And yes, I can understand every word you say."
I began to shake. I was scared, so I did the first thing that came to mind. "F-FATHER!" I called out with a roar.
The male chuckled. "Awe, calling for daddy, are y-"
The male was cut off as Father slashed at him from behind. "Never mess with my son, Kasai-spawn!" he hissed.
The man growled as he began to get up. "Damn you, Fubuki...I swear...I won't let all this time go to waste!" he cried out before he somehow vanished.
Father then closed the small distance that was still between us. "Yuki! Are you okay?"
I nodded. "Y-yeah. I'm fine," I said with a slight smile. "...who was that just now...? Seemed like you knew him..."
Father sighed. "I'm not sure what he goes by now, but back until about five years before you were born, he was known as Moeru. His father is Kasai, the Fire Dragon. Like the other main dragons of our world, he is my cousin."
I nodded. "Right. I remember something like that. Anyways...the fire is out now. Can we please go home?" I whined. "I'm kinda tired..."
Father slightly chuckled. "Of course we can. Come on."
With a nod, we both took to the sky, and made our way back to the cave we lived in.
