Melanie

I looked in his eyes as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.

His touch.

His smell.

His looks.

They were all amazing and it took my breath away.

"You drive me crazy," he whispered in my ear, "I can't believe I'm holding you right now. God you are so beautiful."

We were laying on the grass, under the stars and the moon and i could only think about what's to come.

Adrian.

My happiness.

I never believed in fairy tales, but as we lay in the middle of this field, forgetting anything even matters, I realized I live in one with the person I would have never thought would be mine.

"Let's go, it's getting late." He warns and i nod my head and we both slowly stand.

We start folding up the blanket and pack everything in the bag we brought with us. The walk to the car was not too long as it was in the closest parking spot to where we were.

As exciting as the day was, I was exhausted on the ride back home. I focused on my near—steady breathing and i let sleep suck me in as the night went by peacefully.

Until..

"Melanie!!" I felt Adrian shaking me violently as i struggled to open my eyes and lift my aching neck. I noticed a very bright light that instantly got my attention and I sat up quick in disbelief.

"Get up, we have to get out, NOW!" He gestured outside his door, it was the safest way out as my side was up in flames in the distance.

"I can't, m–my leg is stuck!" I tried pulling my leg out of it's stuck position, but it was no use as my strength was not enough.

"Ok, ok, relax love, it's going to be okay." His tone cane to a whisper and it somehow calmed me and i truly believed everything was okay.

He made everything okay.

As he struggled to release my leg, i heard something so loud my ears rung and i had to adjust once again to the sorroundings as i looked around desperately.

Where'd he go?

"Adrian?"

I twisted my body as much as i could to where he was just standing, but he was no where to be found.

My beathing quickened as my heart fell to the pit of my stomach, my world falling apart second by second.

I heard shuffling beside me followed by a rough, warm and yet comforting touch.

"Don't worry Melanie I'm here, I'm here. Shh it's okay, you're safe." I heard myself let go of a breath I didn't know i was holding till then.

Adrian caressed my hair and soothed me with sweet words and soft whispers.

My head jolted to the side as i felt him move. He must have realized my expression because he came beside me again and whispered words that had me worried once again.

"I'm going to try and open your door to get you out, okay? Just stay still."

He didn't wait for my reply as he ran to my side of the car, being cautious of the one burning infront of me and the wreckage so close to me in flames.

~~~~~~~
15 minutes later
I woke up from a daze as i felt myself moving. I quickly awoke realizing i was being carried.
I could only manage a sleepy hum, but it was loud enough from Adrian to hear.
He looked down at me and i looked up at him. Just when everything seem okay I felt an excruciating pain in my right leg and as i tried to reach for it, i heard a sweet voice calming my thumping heart.
"Shh baby, i got you, relax." At his words I instinctively relaxed.
In the distance i could hear an ambulance siren followed by some lights then my eyelids got heavy until everything went dark.
All i felt was my body moving.
All i heard were sweet whispers.
And my body was limp.
The next time i woke up was in a weird, bright room.
I heard this beeping noise to my left, I couldn't see it. I was trapped in the darkness with no escape.
The sound got faster.
I tried with every will of me to open my eyes and finally,
They snapped open.
