We only come here once they say
We're not here long I reckon
And history has paved the way
The lighthouse yonder beckons
In every crowd you pick one out
It only takes one fool
The loudest one, the charlatan
The bully at the school
Every dog will have its day
Every cat its hour
But life's a mess you must address
When they take away your power
Oh, no, hell no
Ain't going back again
Truth's on sale to entertain
Countless lies they can't contain
Hiding in those tax file drawers
The lighthouse yonder beckons
Lord, won't you help him out?
Sort the right from wrong
Oh lord, else get him out
Of places where he don't belong
Where his hands shouldn't be
And his fingers couldn't be
Could they?
We only come here once they say
We're not here long I reckon
And history will have its way
The lighthouse yonder beckons
