*Iris's POV.*

My ears begin to ring as the sound of my alarm clock blares through the room. I slam my hand down on the button and groan while running my hand through my long black hair. This was my first day at Clairemont High, and I know exactly how things will work out.

I'll  get to the school, and the jocks will notice that there is a new kid and will immediately start picking on me. I'll get to my first class and the teacher will put a spotlight on me (possibly making me tell everyone about my previous school, or what I'm interested in,) everybody will stare at me through the entire day, and I probably will make one to zero friends. It's like that every new school. Considering this is my 6th new school, you'd think I'd be over all the butterflies and jitters, but i feel like this is going to be worse than the other schools.

I run my brush through my bed head, slowly giving up as I realize that it wont be sorted out before I have to leave. I sigh and drag myself to my closet. I choose out my favourite pair of black skinnies (that I always wear,) and a black Bring Me t-shirt. I tug on my skinnies and shirt and quickly run to the bathroom. I brush my teeth quickly, and apply a thick line of eye liner and mascara to hide my baggy eyes. I ponder upon the thought of straightening my hair for a few minutes, but decide not to because it takes too long and I only have about twenty minutes to get to the bus. I grab a few bracelets off the counter and push them onto my right wrist to cover two freshly new cuts that rest on my skin.

It's been a few years since I started. It all began when the guys at my old school pushed me into the lockers and beat the living soul out of me. I thought it was a way of escaping, even though I don't promote it to anyone, I know it helps.

I skip down the stairs, and grab a granola bar out of the cupboard.

“Morning mum,” I smile and kiss her on the forehead.

“Morning sweetie, excited for your first day at Clairemont?” She asks sweetly.

“Eh, I mean, I just hope it doesn't turn out like the other schools, you know?”

“I know, I'm sure it will be better, they are one of the top rated schools in San Diego.” She smiled.

“I guess yeah, hey do you know where the bus stop is?” I laugh, thinking I have no idea where the bus stop is.

She takes a sip of her coffee, and nods, “Yes, it's right across the street, a bonus for you; I know how lazy you are.” I chuckle escapes my lips.

“Thank you mum, I'm leaving in a few minutes, anything you want me to do?” She shakes her head.

“Nope, have a good day at school though, I hope it goes well.”

“Thank you, have a good day!” I grab my bag and bolt out of the front door. Maybe the first day wouldn't be that bad. It could run smoothly for all I know.

It's mid November, it's a bit chilly out, but not cold enough for winter jackets. I'm not sure how San Diego weather is, but from what I heard the temperatures are fairly high; 68°F average throughout the year. This is a huge change for me, considering I moved from the north of Canada (33°F daily?!). So moving to San Diego is a huge climate change for me.

It was 5 minutes before the bus came, by then, my stomach was doing back flips off the walls. I take a step onto the bus, biting the inside of my lip to keep back the tears.

“You new here?” I hear the bus driver ask. I nod and take a seat in the middle of the bus. I can feel people's eye's dig into the back of my head, my stomach flips again, I hope no one says anything to me.
