I woke up to the smell of coffee.
Why would it smell like coffee?
I threw the sheets off my face and found Gerard with a Starbucks cup.
"Good morning," he smiled, "want some?"
"Mm... maybe," I said, still a bit tired.
I completely lifted the sheets off of me and stretched.
"You can have some if you want. I don't care." Gerard said, holding out the cup to me.
"Thanks." I mumbled, taking the cup out of his hands. I got a little sip from it and gave it back.
"You're welcome." Gerard drank the rest of it and threw it away.
A few minutes later we got ready for school.
We went outside for a bit. Gerard took my hand and showed me a cool water fountain thingy they had at the school.
Gerard and I were still holding hands and we walked inside. Then we heard some people screaming, which scared me.
"Oh. Its just these kids that go here. Their names Are Vic and Kellin." Gerard said.
"Oh," I said.
We didn't know what else to say. We were walking, silently, down the hallway to our classroom. We walked in, still holding hands. We heard laughs and whispers from other students. The teacher wasn't in here yet, so i whisper-yelled, "You can all shut up cause you know you're gay too!"
The room was silent then.
More students came in and finally the teacher was here.
Some kid raised his hand.
"Yes?" asked Mr. Stump.
"Why do you always wear a fedora?" They asked.
"It's cause I like them." He replied.
"Oh... okay." Then they went back to doing some of the work we had to do.
After a bit, Mr. Stump walked up to the front of the room. "Excuse me, everyone."
Everyone stopped what they were doing and listened.
"We will be starting a fun project here. You get to work alone or with a partner!" He announced.
"The project is going to be facts about anything of your choice. Anything. As long as it's appropriate. You can start planning now."
I walked up to Gerard, cause he was the only person in the class i knew and i didn't feel like making friends.
"Hey Frankie," He said.
"Frankie? Where'd that come from?" I asked.
"I don't know." Gerard stated.
"Well anyway... wanna be partners for this project thing?" I asked.
"Well yeah, who else could i trust?" Gerard smiled. "I can barely trust myself. Thanks for being here, Frank."
"You're...welcome...!" I said. It hurts me to see Gerard depressed.

It feels like I'm being stabbed in the heart 1,000 times every second.
Gerard was shaking. He looked down at the floor.
"Its funny," he laughed, "I'm afraid of needles. Teenagers scare me too."

My heart shattered. What was I supposed to do?
And apparently my arms had a mind of their own and I hugged him. Right in front of the whole class.

I let go.

Mr. Stump came up to us.
"Uh, why don't you boys take the day off...?" He said and handed us some passes.
We grabbed our things and went out.
As silence grew upon us once again, Gerard said, "Frank,"
"Yes?"
"I've never told anyone this, besides my family, but other than that..."
"What is it?"
Gerard cleared his throat. "I love you. I mean it, I really do."
I smiled. "I love you too."
We got into our room and sat down on our beds.
"Well, what do we do next?"
