"Hahh-" a sigh escaped the teen boy's lips, his messy raven hair spread across his pillow as he shuffled in his bed struggling to lie comfortably. His dark gray-blue orbs staring up at the blank ceiling of his small apartment. "Shit, I can't sleep..." he said quietly making a 'tch' sound before sitting up in his bed- His navy blue bedsheets followed his motion landing on the glossy wooden floor.
He ran a hand trough his dark hair, then, he took a brisk look at his surroundings. The room was dim lit, the only thing illuminating it was the full moon peering trough behind his white- almost see through bedroom curtains. Even in the dim light he could tell how sloppy the place was looking; most- if not all of the clothes he had worn recently were on the floor together with his bedsheets, trash was spread around here and there, plus his closet door looked like it would burst open at any minute spreading even more clothes- both clean and dirty all over the room. He reluctantly rose from his seat before heading towards the light switch and flicking it on.
A few minutes passed, and he was close to finished with tidying up his room, he threw the last pieces of trash in the trashcan besides his wooden desk whom his laptop was located on. He glanced over at it, the screen was up- but only half way. He let out a soft groan and lightly put down the screen- "no, that's all I've been doing so far the whole summer..." He bit the inside of his cheek with a slight frown forming on his face. He propped down onto the floor in a crisscross sitting position, placing his hands on his cheeks whilst resting his long arms on his knees. "I could go for a walk?" He closed his eyes before standing up straight again- fetching his dark almost black hoodie and throwing on a fresh new pair of pants before heading out.
Opening the front door he felt a soft breeze brush against his hair and face. He blinked a few times letting his eyes adjust to the outside lighting so he could observe his surroundings properly. As his eyes adjusted he saw the trees green leaves rustle in the breeze, the moon was shining brightly illuminating the roads and bare open fields. The night sky was awfully beautiful this particular night, the last few days had been sort of dark and cloudy- and even though Keith seemed to enjoy that sort of weather he thought it was really nice to see the moon and stars every so often. It wasn't cold in anyway, but it really wasn't all that warm either- going by the fact that it was close to the end of summer and that he lived in a town known for being chilly in and around this time of year.
Oh, how he wished he went outside more. He liked the outdoors, it seemed to out him at ease- but he didn't see any point in going outside most days. He didn't have all that many people he could hang out with so to say. He didn't have all that many friends, he got along with the few he had well and all that, but he wasn't sure if he'd enjoy being with them outside of school as much as during it. So he tried his best to avoid it, making him feel and seem somewhat like a douche- but he didn't really mind.
All these thoughts were running wild in his head before he realised he had gotten a little lost and ended up on the outskirts of a big open field that he didn't think he had ever seen before. Rapidly scanning his surroundings he deemed that he could probably find his way back if he followed the streetlights. "Well since I'm here, I might as well explore a little. It can't hurt, right?" Letting those words escape his mouth he became conscious about how optimistic he sounded- which was rare for him, he pushed the thought out of his mind quickly. He didn't let the thought get to him because his awfully optimistic statement might as well have come as a result of all of the fresh air he had gotten.
The field was... Larger than Keith had anticipated as he stepped out on it, it was so large that he couldn't believe he had never seen it before. He slid his hands into his hoodie pockets and walked around for a brief moment before noticing a figure close by. Keith squinted his eyes trying to get a better look at the figure, all he could make out was that the figure looked human- obviously, he hadn't seen any animals so far so why would he see one now? In the middle of an open field close to the road of all places, and not to add, if it was an animal it would've probably have noticed him and ran away ages ago. He stared at it for a few more seconds, and made the decision to step closer, he hesitantly took a few steps towards the figure sitting on the green grassy field. His steps were moderately loud, the grass underneath his feet rustling slightly with every step he took. The raven haired boy bit the inside of his lower lip gently taking another step, as his foot hit the ground he heard the sound of a small twig breaking beneath him. He looked down at his feet- biting even harder on his lip "Shit.." He murmured under his breath whilst placing a hand on his face because of his failed attempt at being sneaky.
Keith took a deep breath before reluctantly facing up; he saw that the figure had turned its head just enough to face him. The figure tuned its head back to its original position and stared up at the night sky."Its beautiful, don't you think?" The silhouette in front of him stated in a soft compassionate voice and shifted their sitting position so they were hunched over. Keith's eyes widened, he took a step back being in slight shock of the sudden initiation of conversation. The figure turned around fully to face Keith and he good a full glimpse at his features; tan skin, brown short hair and beautiful dark blue eyes that he could just stare at for days. "Hey don't go! Stay a while" the male in front of his said with a cheesy smirk spread across his face. Keith frowned, shifting his eyes back and forth for a few seconds before stepping forwards the male. "Shy, are we?" The boy chuckled just as Keith sat down besides him. Keith looked away hesitant to say anything, "I'll take that as a yes, I'm Lance" the brunette said reaching their hand out for a handshake. Keith looked down at the hand that was reaching out to him, he looked up from the corner of his eyes- inhaling he reached out wrapping his had around the other boys. "Keith, I'm Keith" he said quietly; he felt their intertwined hands slip away from each other,
"oh look at that! You can talk" Lance laughed softly lying down on the grass beneath him. "Shut up" Keith pouted bringing his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around them. Lance once again laughed, "what's so funny??" He said loudly turning his head sharply to face the other boy. "You" he said sheepishly covering his mouth in an attempt to conceal his laughing. "What's that supposed to mean?" Keith frowned once again(Wow, he sure had a wide range of emotions that Keith.)
"Haha, nothing-" Lance sat up, "its beautiful, don't you think?" He said, smiling in melancholy at the moon and stars, eyes twinkling as if shiny moon dust had gathered around his blue orbs making them look as bright as the sky. "What is?" Keith knew it probably was a question with and incredibly obvious answer, but decided to ask anyway, he didn't know what else to do. "The universe, stars, the moon.." The brunettes smile seemed to widen as he spoke, he spoke very enthusiastically; as if he was a little kid. Keith had to admit, it was pretty cute to see this enthusiasm from another person.
Lance turned to him and Keith realised how long he had been staring, he felt heat rising to his cheeks. In embarrassment he turned his head and placed a hand across his face hiding the possible blush that was appearing on his face. "Oh, yeah.. It is" he said in a muffled tone due to the hand that was covering his mouth and most of his pale face.Moments passed- it felt like hours. Complete silence, no talking. The only sound that was heard was the wind, the sound of the rustling leaves high up in the trees, and occasionally a passing car. It was oddly relaxing, just sitting there, stargazing, in silence. Keith couldn't describe this feeling he had, being a guy that hates elongated moments of silence it was weird for him not to feel uncomfortable in this situation. He honestly could fall asleep right then and there.
Lance stood up, he looked at the watch on his wrist, "you're leaving?" Keith said in an almost sad voice. "You're a weird one Keith" Lance snickered, he put his hands in the back pockets of his gray jeans whilst looking out at the horizon. "I guess I'll see you around?" He asked looking down at Keith who was still sitting, "uh, yeah, I guess?" Keith replied in an almost questioning manner, he stood up and dusted off his pants. He was facing down, he heard footsteps but being too focused on tidying himself he couldn't tell whether the steps were heading towards or away from him. The raven haired boy looked up only to get face to face and lock eyes with his newfound 'friend'. "Just so you know; I come here often~" Lance started before pulling his face away from Keith who was in shock. "That is, if you'd like to hang out" he took some steps back and winked at Keith before heading off for good.
Keith- still in shock stayed in the same position staring out toward where then other boy had disappeared to. "What...?" He tilted his head, his mouth semi open in confusion. He took a deep breath, shaking his head to let the thought be removed from his mind. "Whatever, it was probably a joke" he told himself biting his lip. "Ah- shit.." He exclaimed, comprehending how late it was by seeing the sun rising slowly in the horizon. In a hurry he ran back to his apartment wanting to get some sleep before the sun had completely rose.
He got home a lot quicker than expected, after throwing off his hoodie and tight pants. Keith fell into bed, being exhausted after the long run he had just had. He crawled groggily under the covers of his bed, lying down on his back looking up at the roof as he drifted off. His last thoughts before slipping away into dreamland being what Lance had said to him moments earlier..
