Chapter 7
School ended at the ended at 2:30 and Lucas offered to take me home. I wanted to tell him no, but he so kindly had to remind me that it would look good if my boyfriend took me home after school. As if my own sisters car couldn't do the job well. Still in the end I agreed with him and got into the front seat of his 1990's ford truck. "I will see you home." I said turning to the window and yelling to my sisters. They were standing next to the car staring at me in either shock or anger. I couldn't figure how which one it was, but either or way they didn't look to happy with the thought.
Serinity was the first to answer since she was the closest to Lucas's car, and probably the only one who actually heard what I was saying, "Don't do anything stupid." She yelled, and I laughed. Of course she would think that I would do something stupid, but wasn't I already? I mean I agreed to letting Lucas drive me home from school, let alone agreeing to this stupid deal of dating him until the end of the year.
"You don't have to worry about me." I replied back with a smile though she only glared at me while Lucas started the truck and pulled out of the parking space. It didn't take to long until we were in the traffic of exiting teenagers and school buses, and I knew that we would probably be in this traffic for the next ten minutes at least.
"So the first day went pretty well." Lucas said quickly looking at me before looking back at the road and moving up once car space.
"Yeah, it went well alright. If you can think of it as that." I replied bitterly. I didn't think it had gone to well considering I had to spend time with him longer than I would have liked too. Plus, I had to listen to everyone talk about 'how we were so cute' or 'that they always knew we would end up together.' Every time I heard someone say that I just wanted to rip their head off and scream at them. Yes, it was a bit of an exaderation, but still it would work.
From the corner of my eye I could see him smile and I just had that strange feeling to slap him in the face to get rid of the smile. Instead though I just stared silently out the side window of the passenger seat as Lucas drove slowly with the current of traffic. Five minutes later we had finally broken free of the traffic and were on our way down the winding roads toward my house. It was rather surprising that we had gotten out so quickly, but in a way I was glad because that would mean I would have less time to spend with Lucas.
"Would you mind if I stayed at your place for a little bit?" Lucas asked a couple off minutes from my house.
"Yes I would mind actually. My family would be there, and I would rather them not question this." I said motioning my hands toward him.
"What is wrong with this?" He asked with a cocky smile. He understood what I had meant, not that I was trying to cover it up any.
"Everything is wrong with this. I don't want them thinking that we are in some sort of relationship."
"We are in a relationship though." He smiled and I just glared.
"You know perfectly well what I mean." I replied, "Is don't want them thinking that there is more to it than what there really is. Besides this is just a bet and I would rather keep it to where only school knows about this."
He thought about that for a second before turning to me with an answer, "They are going to find out anyways you know, and will think something of it either or way. Might as well get it over with now rather than later."
