Chapter 8
The first things that my parents did when the entered the house as ask about Lucas. He was sitting on the couch next to me while we watched a movie, and although neither of us answered the question I knew that both of my parents knew what was going on. Of course it didn't help when Deliliah yelled out, "Skylar and Lucas are dating."
Instead of turning around to see my mothers reaction to the news I just stared at the television. I could see their reflection anyways, and through the reflection I could see my mother just nod refusing to say anything though it seemed she wanted to say everything about it. Instead she just left the room and went into the kitchen to find something to eat. At least that was my guess. My father on the other hand had other plans, "What happened to your other boyfriend?"
I sighed realizing that I had to answer my father, "we broke up a while ago dad." I said.
"But you two were so good together." He replied, "What was his name again? Fred? John? Cody?"
I rolled my eyes as I answered him, "His name was Todd, dad." He couldn't even remember my ex boyfriends name, so how could he possibly say that him and I were good together. I don't even think he really knew Todd either except for the rare moments when he seen the two of us hanging out when him and mom walked into the house.
"Yeah that's it." He agreed. "How is he doing by the way?"
"I wouldn't know. We have not talked since we broke up."
From behind him my mother came back into the living room with a bottle of water and a special K's snack bar. She didn't say anything as she walked through the living room and to her bedroom all the while eating her snack. My father though waited a bit longer and stared in the direction of Lucas and I before he finally left following in the same foot steps as my mother had. "We won't be seeing them again until morning maybe." I sighed with happiness. Most times I was glad that my parents would leave without actually saying anything, but other times I questioned the reason why they even had the three of us. I mean they never were good parents even when I was growing up, and I know that both of my sisters agreed with that.
"Why not?" Lucas asked. He had been sitting watching TV the whole time during the ordeal and never spoke a word until now.
"Most nights they just come home and go straight to bed." Serinity replied. She was sitting in the love seat with Delilah and neither of them were really paying much attention to what was going on with the movie. "We grew up with them never being there and though we seen them most nights and mornings before school they were never actually there." Serinity then added.
Delilah nodded her agreement, "Yeah. I think our nanny was there more than either of our parents were which says a lot because they got mad when we would call our nanny mommy."
"Seriously?"
"Yup. Our first nanny was fired when we were two years old because we started to call her mommy when we went to bed and woke up." Serinity smiled, "We have actually seen her a couple of times as we grew up, but each time we always had a new nanny with us. At least that is what she told us when she would see us in the store with the nanny."
Lucas was about to say something more when I spoke up, "as much as they are our birth parents, I did always wonder why they even bothered having children. I mean it is obvious at least to me that they never wanted children in the first place."
"Agreed." Delilah replied with a sigh. "I think we were more of a burden on them than actual family. We are still a burden I think honestly."
"More so me than either of you," I replied. "They hate that neither of them could control me, but then again neither of them were there in the first place so it is no surprise really."
"Yeah, Anyways lets get back to the movie." Serinity replied turning back to the TV and getting immersed in the rest of our movie. Lucas and I though smiled at one another and he even pulled me in closer to him to where I was just inches away from him and kissed me on the forehead. I didn't bother to ask why he had kissed me on the forehead and instead just leaned against him and watched the movie.

Three hours later I woke up with a jump as I felt someone moving me, and I found myself in the arm of Lucas as he was carrying me up the stairs and to my bedroom. "Sorry I did not mean to wake you up." Lucas whispered.
In my groggy sleepy stage of sleep I replied softly, "Its alright."
I could hear him chuckle a little at my sleepy voice but never did say anything else. He laid me gently on the bed and covered me up with my blankets before trying to slip out of the bedroom, but before he could leave I pulled him on the bed, "Don't leave." I whispered.
"I have to go home eventually." He laughed though still sat down on the bed next to me.
"Go home tomorrow."
"I can't exactly do that. I should really get going."
"Can't you stay for a little bit longer?"
"No sweaty. I will see you tomorrow." Lucas said. "You should get some sleep."
"Yeah yeah." I replied, "I will get some sleep then," and with that I could hear Lucas leaving the bedroom before I could hear nothing at all.
