Slowly the sun had snuck over the horizon, the first few rays of light painted the wooden floors with brush strokes of yellow and orange. The dark clouds of the evening were chased away by the morning light and the shadows that seemed to have been burned into every corner and every part of the house was, for the first time, replaced with the appearance of light. Dust clouds danced in the air, the remains of what was once a home left to the memories and history of the few who had witnessed it. It was oddly beautiful for a place that was so grand to be so empty - it was everything and nothing all at the same time. It was to her at least. Since despite the early hours and the bitter chill in the air, there she sat.

Alone.

She shifted in the chair uncomfortably. It was too creaky. Too wobbly. Too unlike her bed which she could have been sitting in. Should have been sitting in. Instead she was here, chasing an idea, something that might not even be real. It had been 5 years since the accident and yet she was still drawn to where she loved and had lost. Now it was her time, she supposed. Time to fall in a way that wasn't as graceful as he was as he finally left. No. It would be messy, and uneven, unplanned and emotional and she wouldn't go quiet. They had taken him and so, still lost in him, she decided they had taken her too that night and now she was left.

Alone.

Her breath hitched and she leaned back in the chair - placed her hands on face. Everything was hitting her then. Every emotion, every pent up bit of anger she had kept contained, every little piece of heartbreak she could bear to revive was back. All because of a stupid house and a stupid room and a stupid guy she thought she loved and who she lost in an accident that she was responsible for. Well she and the other guy.

She sighed and reached to the floor. She picked up her glass and turned towards the window that was overlooking the city and the warm glow of the sun.

"Alone." She whispered as she raised her glass for what could be the last time.
