Chapter 1

"She don't wanna go outside, tonight!" I sang quietly as the hot,steamy water hit my back in the shower of my newly built colonial house. I was so happy to be away from all the horrible times I have been going through lately. Just recently my best friend, Stella, moved away to California because her mother got a job there. I was so sad that I put her number on speed-dial so I can talk to her 24/7. After school, I even skipped practice because I was too depressed to do anything. All I did was lay in bed and watch re-runs of my favorite show "The Walking Dead" I glanced all over my room and smiled at all the Chandler Riggs
posters I had. I wish he knew me, I wish I knew him. I heard the sweet sound of my moms voice outside the door and I snapped out of my trance. "Nicole? I made you brownies." I was so pleased and grateful about the mother I had. She was my shoulder to lean on when I needed it. "Come in, Mom." She came in with the biggest smile on her face and I saw her little dimples pop out. I jumped out of bed and wrapped my arms around her mid stomach and hugged her tightly. I opened the door and slid down the stairs on my stomach like a 5-year old. I saw the brownies on a pink and blue polka-dot plate and I felt like a child again.
